Brief Description of Duties: Incumbent designs and displays materials for DPW, which include photographs, diagrams, graphs, models, slides and charts used in printed material, exhibits, overhead projector presentations, film strips, speeches, training conferences, etc., to enhance cognitively the public and business community regarding the functions and accessibility of DPW as an agency. Arranges reproduction services and monitoring photographic and audio-visual equipment and supplies with vendors, in accordance with established procedures. Designes, develops and maintains DPW Internet and Intranet sites; evaluates customers' satisfaction with use of these sites; and provides technical support for using sites. In consultatoin with supervisor, initiates text updates for sites and recommend improvements. Conducts planning sessions with managers or other involved parties, to develop themes and topics, determine resources nneded for production and decides appropriate production techniques, as well as timing, emphasis, music, narratives , etc. for special events and activites.
Specialized Experience: Experience that equipped the applicant with the particular knowledge, skills, and abilities to perform successfully the duties of the position, and that is typically in or related to the work of the position to be filled. To be creditable, at least one (1) year of specialized experience must have been equivalent to at least the next lower grade level in the normal line of progression for the occupation in the organization.
Time-in-Grade Restrictions: Time in grade restrictions must be met by the closing date of this vacancy announcement.

Ranking Factor #1: Knowledge of visual design and presentations including such as photographic, graphic art and journalistic publication methods as applied to public information dissemination and community relations, as required to develop original designs, concepts or visual styles and presentation materials that evoke desired responses from viewers and/or that reduce the cost of production, installation, or maintenance of the visuals:
Ranking Factor #2: Knowledge of a variety of audiovisual production and visual production techniques in production prerecorded programs with multiple visual or audio elements, including captions and short texts in addition to illustrations, photographs, diagrams, charts, or reproductions on transparencies;
Ranking Factor #3: Demonstrated knowledge of and skill in the use and application of computer graphics; a personal computer to include both Apple and Windows and various software packages e.g., Adobe In Design 2, Adobe Illustrator, Page Maker, Photoshop, Desktop Publishers, etc.; and
Ranking Factor #4: Ability to speak a language other than English as well as the ability to translate forms, training materials, and other written information into another language other than English.
Conditions of Employment
Other Significant Factors: Must possess and maintain a vaiid driver's license.
Displaced Employee Priority Placement: Eligibles for the District of Columbia's Displaced Employee Program (DEP) and Agency Reemployment Priority Placement Program (ARPP) will be given priority consideration for this position if found qualified.
Employee Benefits: Selectee will be eligible for health and life insurance, annual (vacation) and sick leave and will be covered under the District of Columbia government's retirement plan. However, if selectee was previously employed in the District of Columbia government under an appointment for which he/she was eligible for Civil Service Retirement (CSR), contributions to CSR will resume upon re-employment.
