This position is located in Community and Public Relations service at the Southeast Louisiana Veterans Health Care System in New Orleans, Louisiana.
Major Duties and Responsibilities include:
advice and direction to the Department of Veterans Affairs staff requesting
design service for visual information material intended to communicate and
promote VA programs, research and projects.
with clients during the developmental stages of visual information projects to
help define objectives, recommend solutions and determine appropriate method
for completing the project.
visual projects that interpret subject matter content provided by the customer.
a combination of word processing, photo editing and page layout software to
design and create manuals, pamphlets, handbooks, newsletters, presentations,
flyers, Web Pages, video productions and other formats as required.
expert assistance in preparation of conferences, seminars, briefings,
curriculum and publication materials.

information through visual means to meet the medical, clinical, research and
administrative requirements of a Medical Center to include using computer
graphics and design software to create manuals, pamphlets, handbooks,
newsletters, slide presentations, Web pages, video productions and other
formats as required; and operating digital still cameras, digital video cameras
and related equipment. (This experience must be reflected on your resume) ~OR~
A Masters or equivalent graduate degree or
two full years of graduate level education or LL.B or J.D., if related which
demonstrates the knowledge, skills, and abilities necessary to do the work of
this position. Graduate education must be in a major field of study in
commercial art, fine arts, art history, industrial design, architecture,
drafting, interior design, photography, visual communication, or other fields

This education must have been obtained in an accredited business, secretarial

You will be rated on the following Knowledge, Skills, Abilities and Other characteristics (KSAOs) as part of the assessment questionnaire for this position:
Skill in providing advice and direction to staff requesting design services.
Ability to develop original designs for presentation materials.
Ability to meet the needs of the customers.
PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS: The work requires some physical exertion, such as long periods of standing or recurring lifting of moderately heavy items. This is typical of work involving personal production or installation of exhibits, illustration work on location or onsite inspection or supervision of one or more phases of the production of a visual product.

HOW YOU WILL BE EVALUATED:
Applicants will be ranked based on four quality groups, as follows:
Best qualified - applicants possessing experience that substantially exceeds the minimum qualifications of the position including all selective factors, and who are highly proficient in all requirements of the job and can perform effectively in the position;
Highly qualified - applicants possessing experience that exceeds the minimum qualifications of the position including all selective factors, and who are proficient in most of the requirements of the job;
Well qualified - applicants possessing experience that meets the minimum qualifications of the position including all selective factors, and who are proficient in some, but not all, of the requirements of the job; and
Qualified - applicants possessing experience and/or education that meets the minimum qualifications of the position including all selective factors.
After the vacancy announcement closes, reviewed applications are evaluated against the questionnaire responses and placed in the appropriate quality group. Qualified veterans will be afforded preference by being placed at the top of the appropriate quality group.
