The role: VoIP Engineer
As the VoIP Engineer you will be responsible for planning, and implementing VoIP consulting engagements; set goals, monitor work, and evaluate results to ensure objectives and operating requirements are met and are in line with the needs and mission of the organization. Although the primary focus of this position is to implement and support VoIP installations, you may also be tasked with general network support and build-outs including security, routing, switching, wireless, and other network related duties.
Document and diagram system design/architecture
Define and develop uniform dial plan
Recommend administrative applications
Trunking - ISDN, QSIG, SIP
Development of business continuity and disaster recovery plans
Ongoing technical support
On-site off hours support
Minimum of BS in Computer Science or Data Networking from accredited College or University
Minimum of 2 years’ experience programming, monitoring and trouble-shooting CM 1.X and related Avaya G3r hardware and CM 5.2 and related S8800 hardware in a networked PBX environment compromised of over 50,000 stations Working knowledge of Avaya UDP tables and intermachine call routing Design and test Unified Communication Services in Avaya Aura Ability to create SIP trunks between Avaya S8800 and Cisco SME environments Ability to migrate legacy Avaya PBX routing into Cisco UCM SME environment
Cisco Unified Communications
Minimum of 2 years’ experience with Cisco CM 8.6 operating system and related SIP hardware Working knowledge of Cisco Unity, Presence and UC clients Hands on experience programming, monitoring and trouble-shooting Cisco SME Ability to create SIP trunks between Cisco Call Manager and SME environments Familiarity with Cisco HCSLE platform and associated hardware Familiarity with Cisco CUCDM programming interface Familiarity with Cisco Emergency Responder Working knowledge of Cisco RTMT analyzer Design and test SIP integrations between: Cisco UCM, Avaya Aura, Avaya CM, Cisco Jabber Experience with Cisco 3845/3945 trunk gateways and PRI facilities Experience with Cisco VG202 and VG224 analog gateways Experience with Cisco Unified Border Elements
Additional telephony and networking skills
Experience with Wire Shark or other related packet analyzers Capacity planning for SIP and PRI trunking facilities Familiarity with E-911 concepts, terminology and configuration Strong analytical trouble-shooting skills for call path issues Experience with Acme Packet Session Border Controllers Working knowledge of the TCP/IP protocol and IP subnet hierarchy Working knowledge of SIP protocol
