This position serves the Forest City VR Unit Office and Marion and Shelby sub-offices. The selected candidate provides comprehensive vocational evaluation services to consumers with a range of disabilities, education levels, and work experience in order to assist with job planning and placement. Job duties include: administering, scoring, and interpreting an extensive variety of vocational interests, achievement, and psychological tests; analyzing consumers' medical, psychological, socio-economic, vocational and educational information; developing a formal evaluation plan for each client; making referrals for evaluation services to the consumer and the rehabilitation counselor(s); creating written reports which may be used for other agencies in determining disability benefits and compensation; gathering occupational resource information for better service deliverables; participating in multi-disciplinary teams and committees; partnering with consumers and their family members, employers, school personnel, and other community agencies/contacts; and performing other duties as assigned.
Knowledge, Skills and Abilities / Competencies:
Considerable knowledge of psychological, social and special education concepts related to the determination of vocational potential and abilities of persons with disabilities. Considerable knowledge of evaluation techniques and tests for vocational occupational requirements including but not limited to job analysis, community-based assessment, transferable skills analysis, systematic behavioral observation skills and standardized assessment. Ability to synthesize data and observation reports in order to make recommendations. Ability to express findings and make recommendations with oral/written clarity. Competence in computer usage to include word-processing, spreadsheets, email, and Internet. This position requires travel to satellite offices, schools and other community sites for testing and assessment purposes.
Minimum Education and Experience Requirements:
Master's degree in vocational evaluation, rehabilitation counseling, or closely related human services field; or current certification as a Certified Vocational Evaluator by the Commission on Certification of Work Adjustment and Vocational Evaluation Specialists.
