DESCRIPTION

The primary role of the Vocational Education Instructor is to manage the Computer Skills Training Center.

DUTIES

A.Meet or exceed mutually agreed revenue goals
B.Oversee all functions and admission of the Computer Skills Training Center
C.Establish and maintain liaisons with Valley Rehabilitation Service Agencies and the Regional Behavioral Health Authority (RHBA) in order to realize the goals of the program
D.Maintain Department of Economic Security (DES) Rehabilitation Services Administration (RSA) contract management and compliance for Computer Skills Training Center
E.Develop and maintain working relationships with those stakeholders that will contribute to the success of the training center
F.Other duties as assigned

TASKS:
1. Coordinate multi-level instructional training activities for independent learning formats.

2. Presents lectures and conducts discussions to increase students' knowledge and competence, using visual aids, such as graphs, charts, videotapes, and slides.

3. Observes and evaluates students' work to determine progress, provide feedback, and make suggestions for improvement.

4. Plans course content and method of instruction.

5. Prepares outline of instructional program and training schedule and establishes course goals.

6. Selects and assembles books, materials, supplies and equipment for training, courses or projects.

7. Administers oral, written, or performance tests to measure progress and to evaluate effectiveness of training.

8. Determines training needs of students or workers.

9. Corrects, grades, and comments on lesson assignments.

10. Develop teaching aids, such as instructional software, multimedia visual aids, computer tutorials, or study materials for instruction in vocational or occupational subjects.

11. Prepares reports and maintains records, such as student grades, attendance, training activities, production records, and supply or equipment inventories.

12. Recommends advancement, transfer, or successful termination of student or trainee based on mastery of subject.

13. Participates in meetings, seminars, and training sessions and integrates relevant information into training program.

14. Solves operational problems and provides technical assistance with equipment and process techniques.

15. Identify provider system needs and propose solutions.

Essential Functions
  • Ability to sit for extended periods of time
  • Ability to view a computer monitor and operate a keyboard for extended periods of time
  • Ability to work effectively with staff, clients, and the public
  • Ability to follow written and oral instructions
  • Ability to communicate effectively both orally and in writing
  • Ability to work in a team environment
  • Ability to meet deadlines
QUALIFICATIONS

  • Bachelor's Degree in Education or a minimum of 3-5 years direct work experience with adults diagnosed with a physical or mental disability. Minimum acceptable experience includes at least three (3) to four (4) years of professional, full-time teaching experience in a social work setting or working with persons with disabilities or barriers to employment
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite, Internet, and Email (A+ helpful)
  • Evidence of organization and oral presentation skills
  • A current Arizona driver's license with current registration and insurance coverage
  • Ability to obtain a Fingerprint Clearance Card
