The Salvation Army, an internationally recognized, faith based, nonprofit organization, seeks a Volunteer Coordinator & Council Liaison for the Waxahachie Corps located in Waxahachie, Texas.

The Volunteer Coordinator & Council Liaison prepares correspondence, initiates telephone calls, and visits individuals or establishments to develop partnership initiatives, including volunteer involvement; creates volunteer opportunities that connect organizational sponsors to the goals and the mission of The Salvation Army; serves as staff liaison to the local Advisory Council.

Works with Corps Officers and DFWMC Marketing and Communications department to develop marketing materials and programs; presents Salvation Army message and needs to local organizations, corporations, rotary clubs and individuals.

Establishes short and long range goals and enlists support from Corps Officers and members of the local Advisory Council and volunteer organizations; increases The Salvation Army’s base and expands its influence into the corporate, civic, and education community through volunteer outreach programs, speaking engagements, and public-service promotional efforts in local newspapers, magazines and radio.

Serves as staff liaison to the local Advisory Council.Oversees, through the DFWMC Volunteer Project Manager, the recruiting, training, interviewing and screening of all volunteers; oversees and coordinates all volunteer training and instructs volunteers in proper methods and procedures; checks and approves work in progress and upon completion to ensure accuracy and completeness; creates volunteer training manuals as needed. Provides presence, either personally or through volunteer teams, at various community volunteer fairs to promote volunteerism within The Salvation Army’s program as well as educate the public of the Army’s services and programs. Coordinates with the Corps Officers and members of the Advisory Council and DFWMC Public Relations department to ensure appropriateness of marketing, print material, and solicitation of volunteer communication pieces.

Oversees the development and promotion of event-specific volunteer opportunities with The Salvation Army Waxahachie Corps, such as Red Kettle Campaign, Angel Trees, Boys & Girls Club fundraisers, etc; works as part of the local Christmas Leadership Team and prepares recommendations, revisions, and approval of a Christmas Plan with an emphasis to increase volunteer involvement in the kettle program with a goal to reduce dependence on paid staff. Coordinates, assists, and oversees special events, speaking engagements, the United Way campaign projects, Annual Meeting, and other events as assigned and consults with the DFWMC Special Events Manager as needed; supports and assists when needed in special event planning conducted by the Corps Officers or Advisory Council.

Required Experience:
Two years related work experience as a volunteer coordinator OR any equivalent combination of training and experience which provides the required knowledge, skills and abilities.

Required Education:
Bachelors degree from an accredited college or university in public relations, marketing, business OR related field.

$12.75- $13.22 / hour DOE
