In this role the incumbent establishes a strong liaison with all levels of volunteers within the Member and Geographic Activities (MGA) on all matters related to the operations of the geographic units. It will be the role of the incumbent to evaluate how all areas of geo unit operations and their administration affect the experience of geographic unit members. He/she must have a clear understanding of the operations required to manage the geographic units and the activities they engage in.

Responsibilities include but are not limited to:
Volunteer Engagement in Geographic Unit Performance

Collaborate with other organizational units on common themes and areas that geographic units may benefit from or be impacted by such as unit funding opportunities, new and existing programs that could benefit geographic units and encourage teaming on projects of mutual benefit

Develop and maintain a communication plan and schedule to volunteers; inform volunteers of policy changes and supporting procedures

Identify optimal performance traits of high performing units and how they might apply to other geographic units

Develop recommended solution sets for action plans the geographic unit can implement

Set achievement goals and monitor progress of action plans; track results and provide progress reports to geographic units

Support committees and ad hoc teams as required

Continuously improve the quality and information included in IEEE governance documents related to geographic units

Communicate with the geographic unit volunteers on all policy matters

Review and provide input to requirements used to develop volunteer tools that support policy (such as elections process)

Ensure that interpretation of the MGA policy pertaining to geographic units is presented accurately

on geographic and organizational unit websites and in training material

Resolve volunteer issues based on interpretation of policy and assessment of mitigating circumstances

Ensure MGA policy documentation pertaining to geographic units supports the full engagement by the volunteer and member

A Bachelor’s Degree in Business Strategy, Global Marketing, Strategic Management or a related discipline is preferred. A Master’s Degree in a related field is desirable. The individual should have at least 8 years of experience with designing and executing large programs, particularly in the areas of leadership and professional development. Incumbent will have engaged with high performing teams and establishing and tracking metrics for achievement of team goals. He/she needs to have experience in corporate communications planning, including the ability to translate business goals and strategy into communications campaigns, and implement communications programs/projects. He/she should have strong project management skills, with focus on execution and deliverables. Candidates should be able to work independently, prioritize tasks, meet deadlines, interface with multiple stakeholders, and demonstrate flexibility and creativity in a dynamic work environment. Prior association experience is desired but not necessary. A valid passport is required. Individuals who are working toward or who have earned either the Project management Professional (PMP) designation or the Certified Association Executive (CAE) credential will benefit from the body of knowledge mastery associated with those credentials. He or she must be a technologically savvy knowledge worker who seeks out technology solutions to business challenges and can apply to his or her work environment. A candidate should have sound working knowledge of current technology trends and of industry and business in general. Knowledge of IEEE-related industries and technologies is desirable. Candidates must be able to use the internet for research. Web communications skills with demonstrated experience in web-based communications using the web as a marketing tool including new and interactive/digital media preferred; high level of proficiency in Microsoft Office suite required. Proficiency with using PowerPoint and Excel is a requirement. Familiarity with Projectmanager.com or other project tracking tools is a plus.
