The Adjuster will be responsible for adjudicating medical only and lost time files according to applicable law.
Job Duties / Responsibilities
Denies, settles, or authorizes payments to routine claims based on coverage. Responsibilities also include corresponding with policyholders, claimants, witnesses and attorneys to gather important information to support contested claims in court; prepares report of findings of an investigation. Other duties may be assigned.
Bachelor’s degree from a four year college or university preferred; or one to two years related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience. Minimum six months to one year claims adjusting experience, preferably with Longshore Harbor Act claims. Consistently demonstrate the ability to handle indemnity and medical claims in accordance with applicable law and within the contractual/procedural requirements. Technical knowledge to manage advanced claims, including but not limited to claims involving fatality, stress, and/or litigation. Must demonstrate excellent written and oral communication skills as well as the ability to read, analyze, and interpret technical procedures and medical correspondence or governmental regulations, must also demonstrate the ability to calculate benefits in accordance with the law.
