Senior WC Claims Examiner Examine workers' compensation claims with emphasis on the larger more complex cases. This will include claims in litigation, claims needing case management, direct adjustment, and settlement of workers' compensation claims within authority and territory of responsibility. Within authority, approve or disapprove the adjustment of large losses referred to you by other handlers. Assist with the adjustment of losses beyond authority as directed, after reviewing these losses with the supervisor. The objective is to deliver excellent customer service.
? AIC, CPCU or SCLA course-work or designation, or total of five years training and experience as a workers' compensation claims handler with demonstrated responsibility for first party claims resolution.
? Two- or four-year degree or equivalent experience.
? Additional insurance training desirable.
? Medical Terminology I or II class desirable.
? Good oral and written communication skills.
? Ability to learn responsibilities rapidly and to keep current with changes.
? Ability to work with limited supervision.
? Basic knowledge of legal principles.
? Knowledge of coverage and insurance in general.
? Ability to communicate effectively with claimants, policy holders, etc.
? Ability to act in a decision-making capacity.
