The Welder B has broad knowledge and experience in all welding processes such as manuals, semi-automatic welding operations including but not limited to electric arc, shielded inert and metal arc, submerged arc, mig, tig, core wire, inert gas welding, gas metal arc, gas tungsten arc, oxy-acetylene, metal, brazing, puddling, etc.
In addition, you will:
Make welds using any of the above listed welding techniques in any required position per job specification
Performs carbon arc, gas torch and other cutting techniques
Reads and interprets blueprints and layouts and sets up work as required
Sets up positioners, manipulators, automatic welders and other associated equipment to utilize the welding techniques and equipment available to assure the maximum quality deposition
Is familiar with and exercises good welding procedures including but not limited to electrode selection, use of preheat, peening techniques, bead patterns, proper grounding procedures, etc.
Is familiar with the use of base metals, filler metals, alloy selection and thermal control of various materials and processes
Performs related job duties as assigned
Directs and trains others as required
High School Diploma or GED
Minimum 10 years of experience with: GTAW 2G, 3G, GMA 2G, 3G, SMAW 2G, 3G, 6G, SUB ARC 1G and Non-destructive testing (NDT)
Ability and willingness to travel and work at mine sites and on nuclear sites, as required
