Job Responsibilities

The WIC Local Vendor Liaison is responsible for monitoring and providing support to authorized vendors for compliance will all state/federal requirements as a WIC authorized vendor. Responsible for monitoring and providing technical assistance to local WIC authorized vendors; tracks records from store visits; resolves participant complaints and completes required follow up with external customers if applicable; provides vendors with WIC program changes and updates; directs WIC vendors to appropriate state WIC representatives for assistance with vendor agreements; provides training to stores as needed. Conducts onsite preauthorization visits for vendors applying to be a WIC Authorized Vendor; processes vendor survey request from California WIC program. Maintains good working relationships with the California WIC Program and local vendors. May participate in trainings provided by the WIC program; participates in the enrollment and/or certification process of participants and other direct service duties as needed.

Minimum Qualifications

Experience working in low-income communities Completion of sufficient lower division coursework to successfully perform the required duties of the position or the equivalent of two years full-time progressively responsible related experience

Ability to work independently, as well as part of a team Ability to provide technical support to individuals with varying levels of knowledge and technical acumen Ability to independently research and analyze data in order to form sound conclusions Ability to effectively communicate both orally and in writing Ability to handle multiple commitments and competing priorities Knowledge and competency using word processing applications, spreadsheets and internet applications Knowledge of the Women, Infants and Children (WIC) program Ability to obtain a valid California Drivers license and/or dependable transportation Understand and follow posted work rules and procedures Ability to relate well to others within the WIC Project environment Highly motivated self-starter, with a high energy level and strong interpersonal skills Ability to communicate effectively, both orally and in writing Well organized, ability to meet deadlines, detail oriented; possess good judgment and common sense Sensitivity to and experience working with ethnically and culturally diverse individuals, communities and organizations

Preferred Education/Certifications

Bachelors degree with a focus in business administration, public health or related

Preferred Experience/Special Skills

Experience working with the Women, Infants and Children (WIC) program and policies Bilingual English/Spanish Frequent in-county travel in order to complete on-site store visits

Working Conditions

Travel to local WIC Authorized Vendor Stores and off-site location for general staff meetings Must be able to lift 25 pounds Fingerprint clearance is required prior to hire
