JOB TITLE: WINDOWS SYSTEM ENGINEER
Location: MANHATTAN BEACH, CALIFORNIA
Type: PERMANENT SALARIED EMPLOYMENT with a preference with CONTRACT to HIRE (6 month contract with a conversion to permanent employee at the end).
? Our client is seeking a disciplined Windows System Engineer with excellent Windows systems administration skills and strong background in overall Data Center fundamentals, installations, support & troubleshooting. This Systems Administrator will be responsible for implementing, managing, and monitoring enterprise windows infrastructure on 24/7 basis within a heterogeneous corporate datacenter environment.
? Candidate will be expected to implement and maintain operating systems software builds and/or software/hardware product solutions for optimum performance, stability, reliability, security, etc.
? Install, configure and harden new and existing Windows servers and desktops along with other supporting Microsoft products / technologies and related third party applications.
? Participate in the design, configuration, and management of Active Directory Infrastructure including deployment of group policy and group policy preferences.
? Perform system replications/cloning, system migrations, systems upgrade planning, implementation of change management procedures.
? Provide high security and patch update analysis and deployment.
? Manage system security including Group Policies, virus management, and enforcement of system access policies.
? Responsible for overall health, high availability, maintenance, and documentation of systems for monitoring equipment and environmental conditions for malfunctions, failures and performance degradation.
? Initiate and manage corrective actions on problems to resolution, including events/system logging and performance monitoring on supported systems and software applications.
? Develop automated and manual maintenance and monitoring processes to ensure server performance and 24/7 availability of servers and server solutions.
? Document maintenance procedures for implementation by first-level support.
? Work off hours periodically to accommodate maintenance and minimize downtime windows; perform on-call duties periodically.
? Assist in architecting, planning, implementation and project management of Microsoft and third party server solutions.
? Some travel will be required to support remote productions.
? Expertise and significant system administration experience with multiple versions of Windows Server - all versions of windows server 2003 and windows server 2008 a must-- and Microsoft server products, including: MS Exchange, MS SQL, MS Sharepoint, MS Info Path, MS SCOM, MS WUS, MS System Center, MS IIS, etc.
? Experience in the design, implementation, and maintenance of Active Directory.
? Must possess expert file server skill set with the ability to design, provision, and permission file shares, create appropriate security groups, and maintain these shares and groups on a 24/7 basis.
? Extensive experience building, supporting, and troubleshooting mid-scale deployments (15+ servers) and multi-tier, high-volume, production server installations based on Intel/AMD server hardware.
? Experience with backups using Veritas Net Backup; proficient in system backups and restores/recoveries from tapes.
? Perform recovery tasks necessary to reestablish normal operations following hardware failure, software failure and environmental abnormalities.
? Experience in Enterprise-wide OS/Systems installations and Upgrades.
? Advanced systems programming skills (VB script,PERL, Shell, etc.) a plus.
? Excellent project management, project planning, project implementations skills a must.
? Excellent architecture, systems, hardware, and software problem solving & troubleshooting capabilities.
? Installation, configuration, racking, maintenance, monitoring, networking, hardening, and support data center of enterprise class windows servers (HP, Dell), data storage Hitachi/EMC/HP, SAN/NAS/DAS hardware and software, workstations, desktops and software.
? Must possess a strong understanding of DNS, WINS, TCP/IP protocols.
? Expertise in planning, design, documenting and supporting high-availability, data replication, business continuity, fail-over, fail-back using Cluster Server solutions in SAN/NAS environments including disaster recovery and off site media storage implementations and support.
? Skills and Experience maintaining production environments with zero or very minimal downtime
? Experience supporting 7x24 production, test and development environments, ability providing on-call, evening, and weekend support.
? Experience in developing and implementation of policies and maintenance procedures, support documentation, with change control processes, service level agreements and incident/problem management software.
? Current Microsoft certifications are a plus.
Education and Work Experience:
? Must possess BS degree (or equivalent experience) in Computer Science, Computer Engineering or related discipline with a minimum 7+ ears related experience performing system administration.
