Oversees and participates in the operation, maintenance and limited repair of water or waste water facilities and equipment and maintains parameters for the discharge of waters to receiving streams according to NPDES permit limits.
Supervises, directs and evaluates assigned staff, processing employee concerns and problems, directing work, counseling, disciplining and completing employee performance appraisals.
Trains, evaluates, schedules and supervises work of several levels of operators and semi-skilled workers.
Supervises laboratory analyses by operators.
Supervises and participates in the operation of water pump stations, ground storage stations and elevated storage tanks for the County’s potable water distribution system.
Reviews operation control parameters and monitors computerized signals from lift stations.
Monitors influent and effluent flows.
Manages septic tank truck dumping and chemical deliveries.
Arranges for hauling solids to landfill.
Supervises the repair and alteration of treatment plant structures, roads, and pipes. *
Conducts inspection of plant to determine the operative efficiency of equipment and processes.
Maintains records detailing work performed, sites, hours, and effectiveness of plant operations.
Conducts training sessions on process, equipment, chemicals, safety, and other aspects of plant operations.
Acts in place of plant supervisor in his/her absence.
High school diploma or GED; four years of experience in water supply system or wastewater treatment system operations. Must possess and maintain a Class II Public Water Supply System Operator or Class II Waste Water Treatment Operator License as issued by the State of Georgia . Must possess a valid Georgia driver's license appropriate to the level of equipment or vehicle operated. An equivalent combination of education and/or experience will be considered.
