The Windows Content Publishing (CPub) team is looking for a versatile writer who’s interested in innovating and pushing the boundaries that define excellent global consumer Windows products and web experiences and who’s particularly passionate about and proficient at writing digital marketing and advertising copy. The ideal candidate is highly skilled at writing ad copy from a positioning framework that evolves brand, and interests, excites, and motivates consumers to purchase via creative ad copy. You should be dedicated to the craft of writing, creative, passionate about technology, proficient in writing conversationally to communicate with and connect to customers, and proficient in the latest content development tools and technologies. We’re looking for a writer who is eager to build customer loyalty for the Windows family and write across the content spectrum-product UI, engaging digital marketing web and ad copy, multimedia, and support.
As a writer on the Windows CPub consumer content team you’ll:
Think creatively about how software and technology can inspire people and help them gain confidence in using and learning new ways Windows can enrich and simplify their lives.
Understand how to execute from a positioning framework in order to write cutting edge copy designed to inspire users to sign up for, download, and purchase Windows products and services.
Help define and deliver next-generation web, digital marketing, and advertising experiences.
Write engaging and inspirational content for consumers of Windows across the entire content spectrum.
Help create multimedia content such as narrated screencast recordings and video.
Work in close integration with world class product marketers, designers, and engineers to write for the millions of Windows customers.
Experience in all facets of writing about technology, from product UI to support to writing digital marketing and advertising copy.
Experience working closely with feature and marketing teams, understanding the business and customer goals of each, and translating those goals via customer-facing content.
Passion for the writing craft, understanding the value proposition, and communicating technical concepts in real-world language.
A natural passion for modern consumer technology, a genuine desire to simplify complex concepts into everyday language, and a drive to inspire people to purchase, download, or sign up for products and services.
A degree in Journalism, Communications, English, or related field or equivalent experience in journalism, marketing, and online publishing.
Experience in the collaborative process of publishing or product development, particularly the design and production of software or websites.
Experience managing editorial projects and writing content plans.
Experience with video development, such as script writing, a plus.
Experience with XML and content publishing tools a plus.
Experience with Search Engine Optimization desirable.
Experience with social media desirable.
