Will supervise and manage daily editorial content. Responsible for assuring WSCV’s news coverage is timely, aggressive, accurate, and comprehensive, and in compliance with Telemumdo policies and FCC rules. In addition to copy editing all reporter scripts, will be responsible for the digital engagement for reporters.
Responsible for supporting an environment that provides continuous improvements in the news gathering process. Will partner with the News Leadership team to motivate news department staff and assure that performance standards and accountability are met. Qualifications/Requirements
A minimum of 5 years experience in a small/medium market as a news manager (Managing Editor, Executive Producer or Assignment Desk); or in a major market managing a large, complex news operation in a highly competitive and culturally diverse television market.
A minimum of 3 years producing and writing experience
Undergraduate degree, or equivalent
Bilingual, Spanish, both written and oral
Work overtime and on weekends with short notice
Must be willing to work at the station in Miramar location
Must be willing to take drug test and submit to a background investigation
Must be 18 years or older
Must have unrestricted work authorization to work in the United States
Must be covered by Solutions, NBCU’s Alternative Dispute Resolution Program. Desired Characteristics
Broadcast journalism and news gathering skills
BA or BS in Journalism, Communications or Political Science preferred.
Experience with consumer and investigative reporting and producing
Able to handle working under the pressure of intense deadlines
