The USA Children’s & Women’s Hospital is one of six freestanding hospitals in the United States dedicated specifically to the unique health care needs of children, women and infants. The USA Children’s & Women’s Hospital is managed by the USA HealthCare Management, LLC.

Essential Functions:

Responds to call lights and promptly relays information to the appropriate nursing personnel; acknowledges the presence of staff, physicians and visitors at the nursing station; runs errands to support the needs of the unit; processes requests and orders during computer downtime; checks unit census and updates condition codes; utilizes a personal computer or terminal to access the Hospital Information System (HIS); enters requests for unit maintenance and repair; schedules and coordinates diagnostic procedures and continued care/follow-up appointments; orders supplies and unit inventory; enters physician orders accurately and in a timely manner; processes patient charges; checks unit census and updates condition codes; completes patient transfers and discharges; updates patient diet needs daily on HIS; replenishes chart stationary; serves as receptionist and answers the telephone in a prompt and courteous manner; performs general clerical duties; prepares unit admission packs; monitors patients’ charts frequently for signed MD orders; communicates with physicians, patients, families and healthcare team in person and via telephone; responds to overhead pages; notifies charge nurse when leaving the unit; maintains accurate and complete records by posting all forms and reports in correct order; updates kardex as needed; completes orders by forwarding forms utilizing the FAX machine; performs chart reduction; maintains a neat and properly ordered chart; prepares chart for Medical Records upon discharge; accepts and completes all duties positively and without conflict; cooperates, helps others and improves the performances of the unit; completes all mandatory unit, educational and hospital requirements; utilizes cost effective practices in performing all aspects of the job; adheres to current Infection Control and Safety Standards; keeps unit material/flow sheets stocked; keeps unit desk free of clutter at all times; transcribes delivery information from the medical record into the delivery register; processes laboratory samples for analysis in a prompt and accurate manner; enters patient charges on a daily basis; participates on committees as assigned; participates in Performance Improvement activities through quality measurement or participation of ICARE; abides by and enforces all compliance requirements and policies and performs these responsibilities in an ethical manner consistent with the organization’s values; adheres to hospital policies including confidentiality; participates in the evaluation of environmental and safety issues and intervenes appropriately; assists with orientation of new employees as assigned; safely performs essential functions with minimal supervision; utilizes proper body mechanics when moving equipment that is necessary to perform essential functions; maintains clean work area with appropriate forms and supplies; accesses and accurately maintains electronic and paper medical records; regular and prompt attendance and the ability to work schedule as defined and overtime as required; related duties as required.

Minimum Requirements:

High school diploma or equivalent.

Working Days and Hours:

Rotating Days with weekends and holidays
7:00 p.m. - 7:00 a.m.
