The Houston Zoo is in need of seasonal part-time Water Play Area Guards to assist in monitoring the Houston Zoo’s Water Play Area. This seasonal position will begin in late March and end in early November. TO APPLY - PLEASE SUBMIT RESUME TO CAREERS@HOUSTONZOO.ORG.

•Monitors the Water Play Area.
•Enforces Water Play Area rules.
•Provides exceptional internal and external guest service according to established guidelines.
•Greets and assists guests in a friendly and positive manner regarding Zoo offerings, prices, information and directions.
•Assists Rangers with minor First Aid.
•Communicates with Rangers and other Zoo staff over handheld radio.
•Other duties as assigned
March - November. Must be available to work weekends and holidays.
Three years of experience in a high volume operation with heavy customer contact is desired. Exceptional customer service experience is required. Ideal candidates will have experience working with large numbers of the general public. Previous Life Guard experience desired and current certification a plus!
High School diploma or GED is required. Bilingual skills are desired. Must have excellent oral communication skills with the ability to deal cheerfully with guests. Must be able to work under considerable pressure in crowds and with difficult guests. Good written communication skills are needed to prepare reports and take down information accurately and thoroughly. Previous or current First Aid/CPR certification preferred.
Water Play Area Guards are required to meet high standards of Zoo knowledge and Guest service. In addition, they are required to complete an on-going program of continuing education in order to maintain a high level of customer service.
