As a Web Applications Test Engineer you will be part of a highly motivated engineering team that is responsible for ensuring the quality of our newest QualysGuard interfaces and services. In this role you will be applying your vast QA experience to thoroughly test (end to end) our cutting edge products. You will be designing and creating detailed test procedures (automated and manual) that will cover all aspects of testing AND implementing those tests. This is for a position in Denver, but will require working with a larger team of QA engineers around the US (mostly in San Francisco) - the developers of the software components being tested are ALSO in Denver, so this position is for a QA resource that will work closely with that Denver engineering team.
Minimal Qualifications :
Experience testing web-based applications or developing web-based applications.
Experience with using and/or developing test tools for web-based applications (SaaS-type web-app experience preferred).
Strong experience with automation test tools (Jmeter experience a big plus)
Strong experience with web browsers, and how they act and what they do
Experienced with Apache/Tomcat web servers and web application fundamentals.
Must be proficient with JSON and XML data, and the basics of the HTTP and HTTPS protocols.
Must have strong Linux Command-line & Operating System experience
Ability to judge developer's taste in Hawaiian shirts and/or foot-wear.
Knowledge of relational databases, and practical abilities in performing SQL queries, Oracle 10g and above a plus
Practical programming or scripting experience in Shell, Perl, or Python (basically the ability to script things)
Must be a critical thinker with excellent verbal and written skills.
Additional Desired Competencies :
Skilled in Banjo-playing: optional
Web Infrastructure Security testing (XSS, DOS, SQL Injection) also a big plus
Experience with Java apps and distributed/clustered computing is very helpful
Basic TCP/IP and network knowledge and troubleshooting (web apps run on networks, so networks affects testing, and being able to spot the difference between an app problem and a network problem is key)
A healthy store of television, movie, or other esoteric genre trivia is also a plus.
