Job Title: Web Content and Design Specialist

Reports To: Assistant Director

Department: Communications

Division: Legal

Target Salary: $55,286.40 - $69,950.40

FLSA Status: Exempt

SUMMARY: This position is responsible for analyzing user needs and creating and implementing user interface design solutions to meet those needs. The position will also develop, implement and maintain content and graphic elements in various digital and print-based products such as, but not limited to, OPERS.org and associated sites, Intranet products, social networking properties, member guides, forms, presentations and digital video productions.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:
1. Provide design, development, and maintenance of the OPERS Website (www.opers.org), specialized sites (ex: Board of Trustees site) and other electronic publications and applications.

2. Design, develop and implement new departments on the main site or separate sites related to special topics, events, initiatives and campaigns.

3. Work with development and communication associates to identify content requirements and collaborate to deliver the final product, then work to keep content elements accurate and up to date.

4. Draft written communications as required that are associated with online content postings such as introductory paragraphs, headlines, instructions and alerts.

5. Provide wireframes, prototypes of images and user interface components to business units as required to “sell” communication design solutions and educate business units on best practices and solutions.

6. Participate in efforts to continually improve the quality of quantity of internal/external Websites and electronic publications as required.

7. Facilitate the development and application of technologies such as, but not limited to, video streaming, embedded video, animation, eSubscriptions, online tutorials and fillable forms.

8. Manage Web statistical and analytical tools and provide regular reports on Website activity and performance.

9. Perform other communications tasks and departmental back up as needed, such as graphic design support for a wide variety of printed publications, presentations, large and small format displays, logo and brand identity design and

10. Help develop training and resources for OPERS staff who aid members, employers and retirees in using the Website.

11. Provide technical and design support to grow and develop Knowledge Management solutions throughout the organization.

12. Maintain a customer service-oriented work approach towards internal and external customers.

13. Other duties may be assigned.

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES TO PERFORM ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS

Qualifications

  • Ability to manage and track time allocated to multiple simultaneous projects, balance multifaceted workload, work under deadline both independently and in collaboration with others.
  • Ability to think creatively by oneself and in a creative environment
  • Some experience in the public sector, non-profit or human service environment
  • Tolerance for consensus management and compromise
  • Ability to work in a collaborative environment; present ideas, give presentations
  • Good trouble-shooting and analytical skills
  • Strong verbal and non0verbal communication skills.

Education

  • BS or BA in computer sciences, graphic design, user interface design, communications or related field required.
  • MBA or equivalent preferred.
Experience

  • Minimum three years’ experience in graphic, web or user interface design or combination thereof required.
  • Experience with HTML, JavaScript and CSS required
  • Experience with Adobe Creative Suite including Dreamweaver, Photoshop, Fireworks, Premiere or equivalent required.
  • Experience with social media required.
  • Experience with Sharepoint, Wordpress preferred
  • Experience working with PC, local area network, Internet and Intranet applications required.
  • Experience with Microsoft Office Suite required.
  • Experience working with PC, local area network, Internet and Intranet applications required.
  • Must have online (preferred) or printed portfolio of work.
  • Experience with Acrobat and PDF conversion preferred.
  • Experience producing and editing digital video and audio presentations preferred.
