Advertised Summary Job Description

The Web Developer develops and maintains web applications and systems for Columbia College Information Technology (CCIT). DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES A. Develops software and custom solutions for the College's administrative departments, engaging in all aspects of the software development process. B. Develops feature enhancements and upgrades for in-house applications. Fixes bugs and applies patches. C.Engages in unit testing and system testing of web applications and infrastructure. D.Performs quality assurance activities in support of web systems. E. Supports day-to-day operations of web applications. F. Scans for security vulnerabilities. G. Works closely with clients to assess needs, communicate project status, and troubleshoot issues related to web applications. H. Coordinates with Systems Engineers, Software Engineers, and Web Designer to ensure web systems and sites are up to date. I. Develops technical documentation and end user documentation for applications developed and systems supporting applications developed. J. Other duties as assigned.

Minimum Qualifications for Grade Applicant MUST meet these minimum qualifications to be considered an applicant

Bachelor's degree and/or its equivalent required. Minimum 2-4 years experience required.

Additional Position-Specific Minimum Qualifications Applicant MUST meet these minimum qualifications to be considered an applicant

Web application development experience; PHP, SQL (Preferably MySQL), HTML, and scripting languages; database and web server administration experience; Web content management system experience. Must have the ability to work with high degree of independence and accountability as a member of a cohesive team. Excellent verbal and written communications skills and client service skills. Willingness to learn new development and testing tools. A cover letter and resume must be submitted with an application to be considered for this position.

Preferred Qualifications

Familiarity with unit testing frameworks and with functional testing, acceptance testing, and security testing, Drupal, Apache, Git, JavaScript, web standards, web programming frameworks, Symfony2, and Linux administration. Proven excellence in web application development, administration, and problem-solving. Proven focus on in-depth information security practices.
