It sounds easy, but making a stable, highly available media streaming system that°s easy enough for mom and dad to use is hard.

If you°re up for interesting problems at a startup building a real mass-market product, we ’d love your help developing a proud, user-focused engineering culture and fulfilling our mission: watch anywhere from anywhere.

  • Help define and implement features for the Dropcam service
  • Redefine and iterate on the current website experience
  • Architect and own major portions of the site
  • Analyze and solve performance issues
  • Mine and present our internal data and metrics so we can continue improving
  • Investigate bugs and diagnose issues
  • Share your knowledge with the team by conducting design and code reviews
  • Experience with database-backed web applications, including schema development and scaling issues
  • Deep understanding of MVC frameworks and designing web architectures
  • Proficient in data structures and algorithms
  • Fluent in HTML, CSS, and JavaScript
  • A degree in computer science or related technical discipline, or the equivalent
  • Strong communication and documentation skills
Nice to Have
  • Proficient in Python
  • Proficient in Pylons web framework
  • Proficient in jQuery JavaScript framework
  • Experience with various social APIs, including Facebook and Twitter
  • Experience testing for the web (Selenium, unit testing, etc.)
