Human Rights First is seeking a Web Developer who, under the direction of the Web & New Media Manager, will execute and/or oversee all back-end development for the Human Rights First website. The Web Developer will also fully support all front-end aspects of the website, from design initiatives to content and multimedia implementation. This position is based in our New York City office.
As a member of Human Rights First's communications team, the Web Developer will work closely with the six other members of the communications department to ensure that Human Rights First's web presence is fully integrated with other communications strategies.
REQUIRED SKILLS
4 + years of web development and database experience working with extensive expertise in PHP, MySQL, open source technology, and jQuery. 3 + years of professional Drupal experience with proficiency in module development, theming, and database management. Experience working with Salsa/DIA, Convio, or similar eCRMs. Some client-facing experience and history of successfully working on deadline and delivering solid, organized products. Knowledge of and ability to implement responsive design techniques. Desire to work in a collaborative, project-driven team.
PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITIES:
Coordinate and streamline the delivery of Human Rights First content across various platforms and devices. Build and implement interactive query features, content types, themes, and custom modules to support and highlight organizational initiatives and content packages. Build, test, and deploy email products and action campaigns. Implement email and website split, multivariate, and user experience testing tools. Manage all site performance issues, acting as the chief liaison between the website and its hosting partners. Maintain existing Wordpress site during external website redesign process. Work with vendors and organizational staff to oversee Drupal quality assurance and content migration during redesign process. OTHER DUTIES
Query and report on eCRM, Google Analytics, and AdWords PPC performance data regularly. Provide technical assistance to communications staff on website and social media tools. Research and implement new technologies as needed.
