1.Deliver a “WOW” member experience
2.Become the world’s greatest integrated retailer
3.Build a team of engaged associates who embrace change and technology
4.Operational excellence to drive profitable sales
Increasingly, SHOP YOUR WAY (SYW) is proving to be an effective business enterprise. As a business, SHOP YOUR WAY serves two sets of customers: our Members and our business partners. For our Members, we are building an engaging shopping community. For our partners, we provide opportunities to participate in this community, and we work with them to generate business results and actionable insights.
On both fronts, we have learned more about how to operate a business that serves Members and business partners.
•Members: We have made tremendous progress in building an engaged membership community. More than half of Sears Holdings’ revenues come from Members. The number of Members who have redeemed Points increased by more than 80 percent year over year. We have increased our relevance to Members through more personalized communications and with “surprise and delight” programs like Points injections. We have redesigned the ShopYourWay.com user experience and added exciting new apps to the platform, increasing engagement on ShopYourWay.com by an order of magnitude. As we serve Members better and they engage with more experiences within our shopping system, we see that they also spend more money shopping. We expect these trends to continue as we add to the Member value proposition in 2013. We are creating the membership shopping system of the future – an experience that combines rewarding, personalized, convenient and social experiences.
•Business Partners: We have brought partners like 1-800-FLOWERS, VISA and Burger King into our ecosystem, and we have expanded our relationship with Lands’ End, and Sears Hometown and Outlet Stores (“SHO”). We treat each of them as separate businesses and we generate revenues by serving them as clients. Increasingly, we also work with the Business Units at Sears and Kmart through client relationships, and our financial statements will fully reflect this in 2013.
