HOM Furniture Brands is immediately seeking a qualified candidate to assist with the maintenance of multiple websites including HOMFurniture.com, Gabberts.com, Dock86.com, abbeymn.com and several other branded websites under development for launch in 2013.
Web team members need to be results-oriented, self-starters with imagination and passion. Additional qualifications and experience include:
- 2+ years of professional experience, preferably in a retail or marketing environment
- An general understanding of current web design techniques and standards based layout
- Comfortable maintaining websites developed in WordPress and Dreamweaver
- Familiar with Flash/ActionScript
- PhotoShop (including image manipulation and clipping paths)
- Thorough understanding of accessibility and web standards
- Skills in Scene7 a plus
- Skills in IBM WebSphere and Commerce a plus
- Can work in a team with developers (both inside and outside the company), project managers, copywriter, social media managers, designers and production artists. Work with marketing management to continuously improve processes and site performances.
- Work independently on multiple projects in a deadline driven environment.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities
This person will primarily serve as a support technician to the Web and Marketing teams by managing photography assets, promotional web e-spots, email marketing and WordPress websites.
This person will also serve as an assistant and apprentice to the Web Designer in the development and maintenance of the Commerce websites.
Responsibilities to include coordination with the marketing department graphic artist to convert daily advertising messages to the web, photo and content management, scheduled outbound email messages and other components applicable to web design and management.
Integrate and manage/coordinate information (e.g., product images, copy, prices; promotions; customer registrations) contributed to the site; establish template formats and logical structures for web pages; and maintain template and image database/archives.
Produce a consistent visual image throughout the website (as well as consistent with overall branding, image and look).
Ensure that images/information are delivered to the viewer at sufficiently high speed and quality.
Maintain product images database and look for means to improve efficiency/accuracy of this process.
Remain current on the graphics and web development communities including new HTML tags, browser specifications, and graphic utilities and programs.
Performs other tasks as requested by the IT Director or Web Team Leader

Supervisory Duties and Responsibilities
Requires skills to read, analyze, and interpret general business periodicals, professional journals, technical procedures, or governmental regulations. Ability to write reports, business correspondence, and procedure manuals. Possess skills to effectively present information and respond to questions from groups of managers, clients, customers, and the general public. Demonstrate the ability to communicate in English, both verbally and in written format.
Education and/or Experience
Must have minimum of a two-year associate degree in web design (bachelor degree preferred) and at least two years direct experience; must have or be currently working towards a high school diploma or general education degree (GED). Ability to work cross-platform on Mac and PC, along with strong knowledge of WordPress, Dreamweaver, HTML and CSS. Flash, JSP, light coding of custom Web components, print layout, design, copywriting, and MAC support skills a plus.
Mathematical aptitude to add, subtract, multiply, and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals. Ability to compute rate, ratio, and percent and to draw and interpret bar graphs.
Must be able to define problems, collect data, establish facts, and draw valid conclusions. Ability to interpret an extensive variety of technical instructions in mathematical or diagram form and deal with several abstract and concrete variables.

Employee must be able to complete tasks within deadlines. Employee must present organizational skills. Mac/PC equipment trouble shooting and repair a plus.
