The Web Producer position works in collaboration with the web production team and is responsible for the day-to-day production of internal and external Capella University website content. The web producer’s main focus is to produce and deliver high quality content implementations, communicate with business units and internal teams to uphold university content standards & best practices, and to guide and mentor other web production staff using the latest emerging technologies.
Complete web production related cases that have been assigned to the team.
Work in collaboration with Web Production Supervisor, Senior Web Producers, Web Producers, Associate Web Producers, User Experience Analysts, Interactive Designers, Front End Developers, Project Managers, Product Managers, Business Analysts, and business units to implement the best case user experience on web-based projects.
Facilitate the completion of technical and content updates produced by case requests and generated needs from Website analytics.
Investigate, develop, and implement mid-level micro sites, CMS driven solutions, and other online collaborate initiatives.
Ensure that content on the websites is accessible to all groups including those with disabilities and work with internal teams to design and develop sites for search engine optimization.
Maintain and uphold content standards that work in conjunction with the standards set for content and graphic production, usability, and system architecture.
Maintain and support innovative web-based solutions that increase business and operational results while driving efficiencies in long-term maintenance.
Communicate with the business and project stakeholders regarding content changes, project complications, and deliverables.
Communicate with internal project teams to identify technical issues, changes, quality standards, and recommend content enhancements that guide long-term efficiencies.
Partner with business units to understand specific business goals, customer needs, and opportunities to improve business performance through the website.
Develop strategic plans and implement tactical aspects defined by the business requirements into actionable web-based content solutions.
Provide guidance and strategic insight to projects, web-based initiatives, and content applications.
Analyze and recommend ideas for driving best practices, quality standards, production efficiencies, and long-term solutions.
Provide technical guidance and support to web production staff.
Follow industry trends with regard to front-end technologies and techniques and collaborate within the design & development teams.
Communicate status and risks to project leaders and business partners.
Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science or related field required,
MS, MIS, MSS or related field a plus,
Or equivalent work experience.
Previous Job Experience:
3+ years experience working in a web production or development environment.
3+ years of web production or development experience from site concept to launch, with a proven track record of meeting deadlines.
Intermediate to advanced level of knowledge with CSS, XHTML, Dreamweaver and Photoshop is required.
Intermediate level of knowledge using a CMS, page content layout and content usability is preferred.
Understanding of all aspects of web development, including strategy, design, usability, and implementation.
Understanding of version-control systems.
Previous experience with agile development processes preferred.
Previous experience in higher education preferred.
Ability to work in a team/collaborative environment.
Ability to translate business needs into creative web-based solutions and to deliver business goals and project objectives with limited supervision.
Critical thinking and analysis skills.
Excellent written, verbal, and presentation skills which foster and develop business partner relationships.
Project and technical leadership skills.
Strong prioritization and interpersonal skills to balance multiple demands.
Ability to grasp new concepts quickly and an extreme attention to detail.
Must be approachable and be able to effectively work with people from varying backgrounds, both technical and non-technical staff.
