Web Systems Architect
This position will be the primary technical principal and is responsible for delivery of the enterprise web farm infrastructure solutions.
The main focus of expertise is WebSphere but includes Tomcat, IIS, and web infrastructure support and middleware including various monitoring solutions for the web environment.
A successful candidate in this position will bring their experience to bear from day one and begin to enhance the web systems support team and environment.
Responsible for the design, implementation, and support of web farm infrastructure across multiple data centers
Working with several internal teams to design and maintain web farm infrastructure with 99.999% up-time employing server virtualization, clustering, load-balancing, and using disaster recovery and geographic redundancy concepts
Provide technical guidance, knowledge transfer and mentorship to internal engineering peers as required and lead technical staff responsibilities
Reporting server farm operational status by gathering, prioritizing information
Maintain web server software working with Information Security requirements for currency of updates and remediation of vulnerabilities
Support developers with change requests, uptime, performance related issues, and access
Provide leadership for implementing best practices for application release management including procedures, scheduling, and validation of successful deployments to infrastructure
Engineer and implement configuration management procedures and policies to ensure consistent configuration across all environments
Coordinate with Application Development Teams on the continuous release promotion cycle
Bachelor's degree in a technical field (e.g. Computer Science, IT, or similar disciplines)
Equivalent work experience implementing and operating enterprise level data center and/or office networks
Minimum of 5+ years of experience with WebSphere Application Server Network Deployment
Strong troubleshooting skills and ability to apply them during business impacting incidents
Capable of mentor others and leading by example
Strong working knowledge of UNIX and Windows Server Operating Systems where web server farms are installed
Working knowledge of Java and HTML (some development background with Java, .NET, ASP, or VB is a plus)
Thorough understanding of Apache servers including directives and rewrite/redirect rules
Extensive experience running web server farms using multi-server clustering concepts in multiple data-centers
Scripting experience and strong command of at least one scripting language such Jython or Perl
