The IBM Michigan Delivery Center occupies a unique position in the IT market -- at the intersection of business and technology. This global delivery center provides services to leading-edge clients who are looking for a unique, U.S.-based capability to design, develop, and support their mission-critical applications. IBM's Michigan Delivery Center is a strategic delivery center location that is poised for significant growth over the next few years. As a member of our team, you'll help clients solve some of their most challenging business and technology problems, capitalize on market opportunities, and achieve real value in today's challenging economy.

The Websphere Application Support has primary responsibilities performing some of the following activities: install, monitor, maintain, diagnose, test, configure, set-up, and respond to system activity. Also, may function as initial contact to provide technical assistance to internal or external users. May be involved in new or complex layouts, products, devices, components, methods or procedures. Performs all assignments independently, has latitude working within established processes, procedures. May be responsible for timeliness and availability of various platforms, and for resolving problems, some of which may be complex for all network and server components. As required may function as the lead interface with various network vendors and utilities and utilize Systems Management Process specific client. Provides input into maintaining documentation/operating procedures within area of expertise or to improve these procedures, or in developing new processes.

Demonstrates problem solving expertise, resulting in significant contribution to the efforts of the department. Offers technical assistance to management and team members. Leads technical team. Interacts with customer and takes ownership/accountability for the team.

Assumes additional responsibilities as assigned.

  • High School Diploma/GED
  • At least 2 years experience in DB2 and SQL
  • At least 1 year experience in Websphere Administrationr
  • At least 1 year experience in AIX Shell scripting
  • Basic knowledge in Java/J2EE
  • Basic knowledge in Websphere JACL and Jython scripting
  • Basic knowledge in CVS
  • Basic knowledge in MQ
  • Basic knowledge in Rational Application Developer
  • Basic knowledge in Telephony
  • English: Basic knowledge

  • Bachelor's Degree
  • At least 1 year experience in Java/J2EE
  • At least 1 year experience in Websphere JACL and Jython scripting
  • At least 1 year experience in CVS
  • At least 1 year experience in MQ
  • At least 1 year experience in Rational Application Developer
  • At least 1 year experience in Telephony
  • English : Intermediate

Note Regarding Travel: The IBM Services Center - Lansing is an in-bound delivery model where we support our clients from our East Lansing, MI center. Some travel is expected and all candidates must be willing and able to travel to meet our client needs. Travel is typically related to knowledge transfer and training at the client site and could be several months up front (Monday thru Friday).
