Weekend Customer Service Representative for Aquatics Department

The Aquatics department of the Jewish Community Center of San Francisco has an immediate opening for a friendly, enthusiastic individual to fill the position of Customer Service Representative. We currently have a weekend shift available (see hours below). The Aquatics Customer Service Representative will provide courteous and professional customer service and operational support to our Swim School participants, to general users of the JCCSF's aquatics center, and to staff. In order to be considered, applicants must have Lifeguard certification that is either currently valid or recently expired. The JCCSF will provide recertification as needed, and will provide training and testing for the Aquatics Concepts Swim Instructor certification (see requirements, below).

  • Provide outstanding customer service to program participants, members and guests
  • Provide class and program registration services for walk-in, telephone and email registrations
  • Maintain filing systems and organization of the Aquatics Customer Service office
  • Answer and respond to all voice-mails and emails in a prompt and professional manner
  • Provide outstanding administrative support for Aquatics programs and the Aquatics management team. This includes but is not limited to:
o Swim School support:
  • Preparing progress reports and graduation certificates
  • Scheduling private lessons
  • Processing refund requests
  • Maintaining waitlists
o General Aquatics department support:
  • Maintaining published pool and program schedules
  • Maintaining flyer racks stock
  • Maintaining program and usage tracking systems
  • General office duties including answering telephone calls, responding to emails, preparing mailings, copying materials, and other administrative tasks
  • Fill in for absent staff members in the role of Deck Coordinator, Swim Instructor, and/or Lifeguard, as needed
  • Additional responsibilities as required.
  • Required certifications: Current (or recently expired) Lifeguard, First Aid, and CPR/AED for the Professional Rescuer
  • Must have or be able to obtain Aquatics Concepts Swim Instructor certification
  • Customer service experience is essential
  • Excellent interpersonal skills: good attitude, warm, friendly, and flexible
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills
  • Administrative skills, including experience answering phones and strong computer proficiency
  • Ability to work effectively and cooperatively with a diverse population
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced environment and to multitask
Hours: Saturday and Sunday, 7:45 am - 1:00 pm (total 10.5 hours per week)
