SOUTH DAKOTA NATIONAL GUARD

The South Dakota National Guard has two distinct missions. The State mission is to provide units to assist and support civil authorities in the protection of life and property, preserve peace, order and public safety under the direction of the governor. TECHNICIAN VACANCY ANNOUNCEMENT

Location of the Position: Mitchell, SD

AREAS OF CONSIDERATION:

1. All Tenure 1 (as defined in block 24 on the SF 50) Technicians of the South Dakota Army National Guard. Applicants must presently be a Dual Status employee or a Non Dual Status employee eligible for Dual status.

COMPATIBILE MILITARY ASSIGNMENT:

Selected individual must be assigned to a compatible military position in the following MOS/AOC within 90 days of effective date of hire: Warrant Officer WOBR 91series or Enlisted ECMF 91 series . Military grade inversion within the full-time work force is not permitted. The military grade of the full time supervisor must equal or exceed the military grade of personnel supervised.

DUTIES: SUMMARY OF DUTIES:

The purpose of this position is to perform a variety of welding in support of maintenance activities to include using electric, acetylene, and/or inert gas shielded welding processes, pre-heating, brazing, head welding, tack welding, flame cutting, pressure welding, and heat treating.

QUALIFICATIONS REQUIRED: MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS FOR CONSIDERATION:

General:

Specialized: 18 months experience in the knowledge, skills and abilities (KSAs) as listed below. Such experience is gained in a line of work similar or closely related to the work of the position to be filled. A maximum of 6 months of the required experience may be substituted by successful completion of undergraduate study in an accredited college or university at the rate of 30 semester hours for 6 months of experience. The education must have been in fields directly related to the type of work of the position to be filled:

Knowledge, Skill, and Abilities (KSAs): In your application and/or resume please address the following factors in detail, giving dates of the experience and training. Applicants are strongly encouraged to submit a separate sheet(s) addressing the KSAs and how they relate to work experience, education or training.

1. Ability to perform welding processes using electric, acetylene, and/or inert gas welders.

2. Ability in using sheet metal tools and equipment such as a bender, press roller, shear and band saw.

3. Ability to use templates, jigs, and other guides to make repairs and fabricate metal items.

4. Ability to read and interpret blueprints and sketches.

5. Knowledge of Shop Safety Rules and Regulations.

HOW YOU WILL BE EVALUATED: EXPERIENCE EVALUATION:

All applicants who meet the minimum requirements for consideration will be further rated and ranked on their experience related to the knowledge, skills and abilities (KSAs) stated in minimum requirements for consideration. The application and Official Personnel Files, when applicable, will be used to gather job-related background data to be used in the KSA evaluation process.

EVALUATION METHODS:

Each applicant considered to possess the minimum qualification requirements will be further evaluated in accordance with the procedures outlined in SDNG Technician Pamphlet 335-T and subsequent MOAs.
