DESCRIPTION

4M Research is currently seeking experienced Welders for OCONUS defense work in Afghanistan.

DUTIES

The Welder reports to the Senior FSR/FIM for the Welders assigned location. They shall use (but not limited to) oxygen/acetylene torches, stick welders, wire welders including MIG/TIG and 3G/4G flux-core wire using noble-gas shields. All welds and metal work shall meet or exceed Defense industry standards.

QUALIFICATIONS

  • Prefer a high school diploma or equivalent;
  • The candidate must have a current NACI, Secret or interim Secret Clearance;
  • Must have a valid passport;
  • The Welder shall be certified to the American National Standards Institute (ANSI) standards for the appropriate metals in the manufacture of the vehicles;
  • Welders shall be proficient to perform all welding operations including armor patching, cutting, attaching weldments, and heating/bending metal;
  • Welders shall be certified to AWS D1.1 and must present qualifications as part of the employment screening.
  • Candidates will be tested to verify their ability to perform the required welding. The testing will be conducted in Ladson, South Carolina. All welders will be tested to AWS D1.1 Standard (FCAW using 75/25 and A5.29 wire or suitable substitute).
oThe weld candidates will be allowed four hours to complete both the vertical and overhead tests. (3G & 4G)
o30 minutes of practice time will be allowed if the Welder so chooses.
oEach test will utilize two plates.
oUse of a grinder is not permitted during testing.
oAll Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) will be provided by Navistar.
oWeld candidates will only be tested one time on a pass or fail basis.
