Aker Solutions' Drilling Risers DLS based in Mobile, AL, USA, services and repairs client risers' systems.
We need talented team players who can strengthen our team and support our ambitious growth plans within the global market. We are looking for Welding Engineer currently.
Responsibilities and tasks
1.Develops welding techniques, procedures, and application of welding equipment for problems involving fabrication of metals, utilizing knowledge of production specifications, properties and characteristics of metals, metal alloys, and engineering principles.
2.Conducts research and development investigations to develop and test new fabrication processes and procedures, improve existing or develop new welding equipment, develop new or modify current welding methods, techniques, and procedures, discover new patterns of welding phenomena, or to correlate and substantiate hypotheses.
3.Prepares technical reports as result of research and development and preventive maintenance investigations.
4.Establishes welding procedures to guide production and welding personnel relating to specification restrictions, material processes, pre- and post-heating requirements which involve use of complex alloys, unusual fabrication methods, welding of critical joints, and complex post heating requirements.
And other duties as required.
Qualifications & personal attributes
Minimum 4 year technical BS degree in Welding Engineering (or in related engineering disciplines w/comparable additional experience in precision welding technology); Advanced technical degree or professional license is a plus.
3+ years experience in welding covering different welding processes like GTAW, FCAW and SMAW. *Requires strong interpersonal and communication skills, both verbal and written.
Requires proficiency in the use of computer based software tools.
