BASIC FUNCTION

Responsible for managing the day-to-day activities of the System Operations Group (e.g., Database Administration, Monitor Environment, Windows/Linux Environment, IT Helpdesk, etc); responsible for managing and supporting assigned services (e.g., Linux, etc) that run assigned custom services; maintain and update systems and toolsets to improve security, stability and manageability; ability to take business requirements and translate those requirements into technology solutions; responsible for supporting the infrastructure and specific business applications.

MAJOR JOB ACCOUNTABILITIES

System Operations Management- Responsible for managing the day-to-day activities of the System Operations Group (e.g., Database Administration, Monitor Environment, Windows/Linux Environment, IT Helpdesk, etc) while ensuring adherence to established corporate and departmental policies and procedures

*Provide leadership to assigned team members with day-to-day tasks and project work ensure deadlines are met
* Responsible for managing and supporting assigned services (e.g., Linux, etc) that run assigned custom services
*Maintain and update systems and toolsets to improve security, stability and manageability
*Participate in the creation of detailed business requirements in order to meet technology needs of assigned business segments
*Responsible for supporting the infrastructure and specific business applications
*Coordinate assigned activities related to the operations of servers, critical business systems, revenue generating systems
*Work closely with other internal groups (e.g., Operations, etc) to resolve problems, deploy products and create technical solutions
*Work to ensure proper support levels of the assigned organization (e.g., software development, etc) are being provided by all team members
*Ensure that project tasks are assigned and completed by assigned staff
*Partner with upper management to establish and enforce departmental standards and best practices
*Manage department and projects expenditures in line with budgetary constraints
*Perform level II & III troubleshooting and support expanding our ability to respond in a timely and accurate manner
*Act as escalation point for assigned team regarding questions and concerns and ensure they are brought to resolution
* Identify and recommend procedural enhancements designed to streamline and improve
the overall efficiency of departmental operations
* Continually keep up-to-date on assigned business segment products and services along with industry trends for incorporation in business unit platform

Applicant for this job will be expected to meet the following minimum qualifications.

Education
* Bachelor's degree in computer science, MIS, management or a related field required.
Equivalent work experience in a similar position may be substituted for educational requirements.

Experience
* Minimum of four years increasingly responsible experience in computer science or MIS experience required preferably in a telecommunication field
*Minimum one year of supervisory experience preferred

Technical
* Minimum 2 years’ experience around the Linux operating system, Perl, shell scripting, networking, (SMTP,DNS) MySQL and apache web services required
*Minimum one year DNS (Bind 9) experience required
*Minimum 2 years’ experience with Dell servers required
*Basic experience administering large scale Linux installations (Debian and Red Hat) preferred
*Basic experience with MySQL in a HA environment preferred
*Basic knowledge of SAN and ISCSI, specifically Dell and EMC platform preferred
*Working knowledge of networking and Cisco equipment, ITIL knowledge experience or certification preferred

Other
* Intermediate knowledge of Word, Excel, and Outlook required
*Ability to respond to any incident 24x7 required
