Summary: Perform credit, asset, income and collateral analysis of mortgage loan applications in accordance to Federal, State agency, investor/secondary market and established bank guidelines. Make sound credit decision in accordance to product and program parameters. Evaluate risk and the borrowers ability to repay. Review of mortgage loan application and loan documentation for accuracy and completeness. Validation and analysis of credit with or without the assistance of Automated Underwriting Systems (AUS). Perform detailed review and verification of asset, employment and income documentation for accuracy and proper documentation. Perform detailed review of collateral for one to four family properties to determine acceptability of value. Review of title to assure ownership, chain of title, verification of unpaid liens and judgments against collateral, assure all mortgage liens are being paid through the transaction. Review of Hazard, Flood, Wind/Hail insurance to assure proper coverage, deductible and acceptable term. Perform review of all interested parties against LDP/GSA listing, Perform Final FraudGuard / TQL Check. Review all documents ensuring that all MDIA, HERA & and specified compliance accuracy requirements are met. Comply with file audit requests and or management requests for correction of or completion of task that may be assigned. Other duties as may be assigned. Some travel may be required. Abilities: The individual must be able to concentrate in an open and fast-paced environment, have a high degree of accuracy and be able to work well under pressure. The individual must have strong communication skills and be able to develop relationships with both co-workers and external clients. Individual must have strong attention to detail. Must be a team oriented individual with strong personal accountability values. Must be able to prioritize, follow instructions, take direction from others and work well alone or in a group setting. All employees must strive to provide the upmost customer service level at all times. Compliance: Each person is responsible for completing their individual assigned courses determined by their job responsibilities through the bank online continuing education modules. Employee will be required to attend ongoing training sessions and seminars throughout the year and must be available and able to be in attendance for such training.
Qualifications/ Experience: To perform this job successfully, the individual must possess the following: Minimum of five (5) years of mortgage industry related experience, in a processing, underwriting or compliance capacity Minimum of three (3)years experience with Automated Underwriting Systems(AUS), FNMAs Desktop Underwriter (DU), Loan Prospector (LP) and Government Underwriting System (GUS) Minimum of three (3) years experience with FNMA, FHLMC, FHA, VA and USDA programs and underwriting guidelines Direct Endorsement (DE), SAR/LAPP Certification, preferred Must have the ability to recognize and have an understanding of the necessary documents required in the processing and closing of mortgage loans. Thorough understanding of credit and the ability to review complex financial documents Strong capacity to address credit related issues and points of risk Must be familiar and able to analyze tax returns (both personal and corporate) Demonstrate strong analytical, organizational and communication skills The ability to read and interpret procedural and operational instructions, The ability to perform complex mathematical problems to include the use of a 10 key. Sound understanding of Microsoft Office Applications to include Word, Excel and Powerpoint Sound understanding of Loan Origination System (LOS) Applications, Encompass preferable. Strong Sales and Customer Service background and philosophy. Education Required: High School Diploma, some college education preferred Organization: Responsible to immediate supervisor for the fulfillment of functions and responsibilities Has an inherent duty and responsibility to make recommendations to supervisor concerning possible methods to improve the Banking experience Has the responsibility to make recommendations to supervisor concerning the budgetary needs of the department May have contact with customers and the public, and is to conduct relationships in a manner that will enhance the overall Branding effort of the bank
