This role (Covering Maryland, and the D.C area) is responsible for developing relationships and raising assets in Invesco products with targeted wirehouse firms such as Morgan Stanley Smith Barney, Merrill Lynch/Bank of America, UBS, and Wells Fargo. Working in concert with the Sales Management team, Wholesalers are also responsible for creating and implementing an effective business plan for the assigned territory which demonstrates how the full resources of Invesco can be leveraged to meet the investment and business needs of key advisor-clients. Wholesalers will be expected to expand market share with advisors within their assigned territory by evolving relationships from a single product focus into a multi-dimensional relationship. Wholesalers will be required to use knowledge of the Firm’s investment disciplines, asset allocation capabilities, and broad capital markets knowledge to facilitate the achievement of business plan goals and objectives. Wholesalers will also be responsible for developing an effective partnership with and the mentoring of an internal sales associate, which will be critical to the success of the territory. Wholesalers will collaborate with other generalist wholesalers and PowerShares wholesalers, as well as Retirement Specialists and the National Accounts team where necessary to meet Firm and territory objectives.
Develops and implements territory sales plan and is responsible for the meeting the goals of clients/firms/territory. Ensure territory plan is aligned with overarching division plan and is developed with input from Regional Sales Manager.
Working in concert with Internal Sales Management team, mentor and ensure internal sales associate activities are aligned with territory plan.
Maintains heavy travel schedule within territory to conduct meetings with advisors, to participate in client events, to conduct COI meetings, and for attendance at selected industry conferences or regional events as a representative of Invesco.
Coordinate field sales/service activities with PowerShares wholesalers and Retirement Specialists.
Deepen penetration within existing Advisors’ businesses by establishing Invesco and PowerShares positions with clients to move from single-product line to multi-dimensional business line.
Identifies prospective clients, prepares presentations, and follows up on client contacts to win new business. Excellent one-on-one and group presentation skills are essential to success.
Must continually broaden and refresh knowledge of Invesco products in order to be able to effectively position these products with Advisors.
Assists Advisors in formulating investment solutions for end clients by communicating information about product offerings, educating intermediaries on available Firm tools and literature, and providing general support to the Advisors’ marketing & education programs.
Maintains information in contact management systems to monitor sales efforts, client contact, product campaigns, platform reviews and availability/timeliness of sales materials and resources. Regularly reviews client information including literature, website, platform investment options and various internal and external resources to determine competitive marketing ideas and potential sales opportunities.
Responsible for abiding by all firm and industry compliance rules. Responsible for making sure that only firm-approved material is utilized in presenting to advisors and clients.
Undergraduate, college degree or equivalent preferred
CFA, CIMA or similar certification a plus
Series 7 and 66 (or 63 and 65)
Minimum of 3 years of financial sales experience required
Five or more years of sales experience in marketing investment products to financial advisors in the Wires is preferred
Background in and knowledge of mutual fund industry and products is essential
Ability to influence and persuade others, bridge differences and build consensus towards a common goal or objective is critical
Leadership and communication is critical, as is a demonstrated ability to establish and maintain productive working relationships with key internal and external partners;
Setting and implementing strategy is critical
Excellent verbal and written communication and presentation skills
Excellent organizational skills
Overall business skills required to develop and follow through on strategy and business plans
