Wilderness Expedition Specialist Trainee
Position Summary:
Provides entry level adolescent counseling and treatment in a challenge wilderness setting and maintains the safety of all students in the adolescent substance abuse program. This position is located in the Raven's Way Program, Community Health Services.

Baseline Qualification Requirements:
  • High school diploma or GED.
  • 1 year demonstrated experience working with at risk adolescents.
  • Six months wilderness and/or experiential education experience.
  • 21 years or older.
  • Valid Alaska driver

's license preferred. Wilderness First Responder or Wilderness Emergency Medical Technician certification or ability to be attained within 1 year of hire. State Drug & Alcohol Counselor Technician certification or ability to attain certification within one year of hire. Wilderness Expedition Specialist I Position Summary: Provides adolescent counseling and treatment in a challenging wilderness setting and maintains the safety of all students in the adolescent substance abuse program. Organizing and leading expeditions is part of this position's responsibilities. This position is located in the Raven's Way Program, Behavioral Health Division.

Baseline Qualification Requirements:
  • High school diploma or GED.
  • 21 years or older.
  • 6 months demonstrated group leadership experience.
  • One year work experience with at-risk adolescents.
  • Two years wilderness and/or experiential education experience (one year in lieu of Bachelor's Degree in outdoor education or behavioral health focus).
  • AK driver's license preferred.
  • Wilderness First Responder or Wilderness Emergency Medical Technician certification.
  • State Drug & Alcohol Counselor Technician certification or ability to attain certification within one year of hire.
