Manage the network of Heritage Preserve Natural Areas in the Midlands Region (Region 3) of South Carolina. Develop and/or update heritage preserve management plans as needed to include: ecological monitoring, habitat management, exotic species control, and consideration of unforeseeable or off-site impacts. Monitor rare elements and carry out planned ecological, restoration, maintenance and protection activities. Conduct tours, give presentations, and develop and maintain volunteer stewardship groups. Maintain boundaries, monitor for abuse, and coordinate custodial activities. Build, erect, or maintain improvements to facilitate visitor enjoyment and safety while protecting the resources.
Minimum and Additional Requirements:
A master's degree in biology, chemistry or wildlife management; or a bachelor's degree in biology, chemistry or wildlife management and two (2) years of experience in fish, wildlife or marine management or research programs.
Frequent travel, irreglar hours and harsh conditions are typical. The regional team structure requires substantial coordination among programs and regions.
