Job Purpose: Under limited supervision, performs major maintenance and repair activities on wind turbine generator sets including replacement or uptower repair of major components including but not limited to main shafts, gearboxes, and generators. Performs precision measurement, generator alignment, bearing replacement, and torque checks. Performs electrical and mechanical troubleshooting activities as required. Attend regular safety meetings and follow appropriate company safety and environmental policies. Operate, maintain, and manage utility truck and tool inventory. Must be able to work outdoors in inclement weather, climb ladders without assistance, and work at heights greater than 100 feet from the ground surface. Extensive travel with little or no notice within the entire NextEra Energy fleet is required as part of the employee's schedule. Two years of industrial mechanical experience at journey-level preferred. Previous experience removing and replacing wind turbine generators and gearboxes required: knowledge of crane related activities, including safe rigging practices, communications, and heavy lifting experience over 10 tons. Call-outs, weekends and overtime as needed. Typical work schedule is forty to sixty hours per week and must be willing and able to perform both call-out and extended hour overtime.
Required Minimum Qualifications: High School Diploma or GED. Valid Driver's License. Possess valid wind certification or 3-5 years experience with wind major components. Preferred Qualifications: Technical Associates Degree in Power Generation/Renewables or 5-7 years experience with a major component replacement with a prominent wind manufacturer.
