The Wind Materials Engineer is a key team member in GE’s Renewables business. The engineer will be responsible for the development of new materials and processes and ensuring existing materials and processes maintain a high level of quality for current GE Wind product components.
In addition, you will:
Be the technical expert for composite structures (provide expertise on the capability and use of various composite systems in Wind components)
Execute research and development programs on materials and processes that provide value for new Wind energy product introductions (create program plans, execute testing, and document technical findings for design reviews that validate the new technology is fit for GE Energy products)
Lead qualification and development efforts for GE wind turbine blade materials and processes for use in production
Work with cross-functional teams to deliver qualified wind turbine blade components to meet production fulfillment schedules
Perform root cause and corrective action analyses to troubleshoot any field issues or manufacturing quality issues
Reduce cost through selection of new processing methods and alternate materials
Control quality of components by creation, revision, and communication of specifications requirements to external suppliers
Bachelor’s degree in Materials Science and Engineering or related discipline

Experience with mechanical testing of composite materials
Experience with composite manufacturing processes
Advanced degree in Materials Science and Engineering
Research into materials and special processes that are applicable to the Wind turbine industry
