SAIC has a career opening for a Windows System Administrator in Washington DC.

JOB SUMMARY:
SAIC is seeking a Windows System Administrator for a large complex family of systems supporting DHS. This individual will be responsible for performing Windows system administrative activities in support of a dynamic network environment. Requires a candidate with at least a Top Secret security clearance, prior systems administration experience and demonstrated verbal and written communication skills. The successful candidate will also participate in process improvement efforts; including identifying areas needing improvement, and implementing improvements as needed. Participate in regular Change Advisory Board meetings and on problem management teams. Candidate will be the sole system administrator maintaining the systems and working issues.

Perform work using and in accordance with ITIL (Information technology Infrastructure Library) best-practices.

PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITIES:
Responsibilities include setting up administrator and service accounts, maintaining system documentation, installing system wide software, validating and implementing critical system patches, and allocating storage space. Will be working independently and supporting 15 Windows servers, requiring analytic skills to be able to determine solutions to issues and problems that come up.

Makes recommendations to purchase hardware and software, coordinates installation and provides backup recovery. Schedules, plans, and oversees system upgrades. Develops functional requirements through interaction with end-users and coordinates with development team on systematic enhancements or changes.

Qualifications:
BASIC QUALIFICATIONS:
•Bachelor’s degree in a related technical discipline with 5+ years of operating systems experience. 9 years of experience will be accepted in lieu of degree.
•Experience with Microsoft Windows server, Exchange, and Active Directory.
•Experience with networking concepts such as routing, protocols and firewalls.
•Experience writing Perl and shell scripts.
•Working knowledge on supporting SAN systems.
•Experience with virtualization and VMWare.
•Must have an active TS security clearance.
PREFERRED SKILLS:

Engineering lifecycle experience. Programming skills including VBScript, Perl, etc. Any of the following certifications: CCA, MCP, MCSA, MCSE.
