Information Technology (IT) test and evaluation documents for the

programs. Customer background: The DoD, Defense Information Systems
Agency (DISA), Joint Interoperability Test Command’s
(JITC’s) mission is to professionally test, assess,
operationally evaluate, and certify IT capabilities, systems and
commercial products for use within the DoD and the federal
government, enabling information dominance and increasing warfighter
effectiveness for our Nation and its Coalition partners. Positions
are coming open soon at the three JITC locations; Fort Huachuca AZ,
Indian Head MD, and Fort Meade MD. We are looking for qualified Word
Processors at various levels to support our workforce and customer as
described below.

General Word Processor
Position Description : Individuals applying for these
positions should be able to use automated word processing systems,
applications and software such as Microsoft and standard user level
computers or work stations linked to a larger computer or local area
network, to produce a variety of customer and company documents, such
as correspondence, memos, publications, forms, reports, plans, tables
and graphs. The Word Processor will use one or more word processing
software packages; may also perform routine clerical tasks, such as
operating copiers, filing, answering telephones, ad sorting and
distributing mail. Assigned word processors will provide assistance
and guidance to technical writers, engineers, functional and
operational analysts and communications specialists conducting
various test and certification events ensuring technical teams are
using latest customer documentation and writing style guidance that
is consistent with the company and the DoD customer. Individuals will
work directly with technical writers who will have overall document
control on the assigned documents and will provide final best efforts
to the PM for release to the DoD customer. These technical writing
activities directly support the DoD Command, Control, Communications,
Computers, and Intelligence (C4I), Automated Information Systems
(AIS), and Information Technology/National Security Systems (IT/NSS).

1. Word Processor I : The Word
Processor I position is an entry level administrative
position.

Required skills, abilities and

experiences:
  • This entry level word processor will
produce a variety of standard documents, such as correspondence, form
letters, plan, reports, tables and other printed materials.
  • Work requires skill in typing; a knowledge of grammar,
punctuation and spelling; and ability to use reference guides and
equipment manuals. The Word Processor I performs familiar, routine
assignments following standard company and customer provided
procedures, seeks further instructions for assignments requiring
deviations from established procedures.
  • Individuals will
write and review standardized material for plans, reports, test and
evaluation memorandum, manuals, briefs, proposals, instruction books,
catalogs, and related technical and administrative publications
concerned with work methods and procedures, and installation,
operation, and maintenance of machinery and other equipment.
  • The Word Processor may be required to take notes and meeting
minutes and compile these notes into standardized customer and
company formats for senior level personnel to review for possible
actions.
  • The Word Processor I will ensure work is
documents are acceptable and follows company and customer formats.
Will check to ensure team documents are consistent and use correct
and authoritative terms and acronyms. Provide authoritative source
when confusion or conflict exists.
  • Must be able to work
as an active team member and be able to verbally and in writing
express ideas and concepts to other team members and stakeholders.

  • Must be able to use Microsoft Office software
applications such as Word, PowerPoint, Excel, Publisher, Visio, and
Outlook email to communicate and express basic ideas and concepts to
group and team members and build and maintain customer document
formats.
  • Must be a U.S. Citizen and be able to obtain a
U.S. Government secret clearance.

2. Word
Processor II : The Word Processor II is a mid-level
administrative position.

Required skills and

abilities:
  • The Level II Word Processor uses knowledge of
varied and advanced functions of one software type, knowledge of
varied functions of different types of software, or knowledge of
specialized or technical terminology to perform writing and document
review duties.
  • Must be able to perform editing and
reformatting of draft documents that have been initially written by
non-professional writers. Examples include: correcting function
codes; adjusting spacing formatting and standardizing headings,
margins, and indentations in accordance with company and customer
provided developmental, operational, certification test plans,
reports, quick look reports and memorandums depending customer
requirement and policy and guidance for the specific document.
  • My be able to work with technical team members in
transcribing technically developed scientific reports, lab analysis,
legal proceedings, or similar material from voice tapes or
handwritten drafts.
  • Level II work requires knowledge of
specialized, technical, or scientific terminology. Work requires
familiarity with government office terminology and practices.
Individual will be required to, correct documents draft copies and
questions originator of document concerning missing information,
improper formatting, or discrepancies in instructions.

Must be able to meet set priorities and deadlines as required and
identified by the customer.
  • Will be required to work
with technical writers who will be revising or writing material that
is mostly standardized for plans, reports, memorandums, manuals,
briefs, proposals, instruction books, catalogs, and related technical
and administrative publications concerned with work methods and
procedures, and installation, operation, and maintenance of machinery
and other equipment.
  • Follows standard customer required
documentation methods on formats as required for DoD Developmental,
Operational and Interoperability certification and evaluation
  • Word processing writing format and grammatical adequacy of
all company and customer documents are critical.
  • Must be
able to work as an active team member and be able to verbally and in
writing express ideas and concepts to other team members and
stakeholders.
  • Must be able to use Microsoft Office
software applications such as Word, PowerPoint, Excel, Publisher,
Visio, and Outlook email to communicate and express basic ideas and
concepts to group and team members and build and maintain customer
document formats.
  • Have an active U.S. Government secret
clearance.

3. Word Processor III :
The Word Processor III position is a senior level writing
position.

Required skills and abilities:
  • Along with the skills and abilities of the Level I and II,
the level III Word Processor needs to have a comprehensive knowledge
of word processing software applications and office practices and a
high degree of skill in applying software functions to prepare
complex and detailed test and certification documents for the company
and the DoD customers. For example, processes complex and lengthy
technical reports which include tables, graphs, charts, or multiple
columns.
  • Must be able to meet set priorities and
deadlines as required and identified by the customer.

Will be required to work with technical writers who will be revising

and related technical and administrative publications concerned with
