TITLE OF POSITION: Writer

DIVISION/DEPT: Marketing & Communications

STATUS: Part Time, Non-Exempt

We have an immediate need for a Writer to write copy for a broad range of marketing initiatives and purposes aimed at promoting MAF to current and potential supporters as well as other departments at MAF, as an essential part of the work of MAF so that the Gospel is proclaimed and God’s Kingdom is extended.

JOB RESPONSIBILITIES:
  • Written Communication:
    • Plans, develops and drafts a wide range of written communications such as ad copy, program brochures, annual report, posters, fundraising appeals, press releases, and web content
    • Produces memos, speeches, organizational announcements, presentations, Web-content, and other communications
    • Provides proofing and edits to communication pieces produced by external contractors
  • General Administration:
    • Ensures that stories are written according to production schedules
    • Works closely with Resource Coordinator to ensure that research is sufficient for content development
    • Works closely with Art Director to ensure copy interfaces appropriately with graphics to create final communication piece

Job Requirements
EDUCATION & EXPERIENCE:
  • Minimum of two years’ experience in marketing and journalism with emphasis on writing and proofing
  • Bachelors degree from an accredited college in marketing, journalism, business, or related field
  • Or an equivalent combination of education and experience
KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS & ABILITIES:
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills; able to relate well with people at all levels of the organization
  • Able to work under pressure while meeting deadlines
  • Highly organized, structured and thorough
  • Able to think creatively and generate new ideas and concepts
  • Able to adapt writing style to fit a variety of copy needs
  • Effective storyteller that connects emotionally with readers
  • Proficiency in Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and Outlook. Able to learn new software and databases with ease
  • Aptitude with rules of grammar, sentence structure, and spelling
Physical Requirements/work environment :
  • Active commitment to the mission, values, and doctrinal stance of MAF
  • Act in a manner that is Christ-honoring as well as Christ-like, demonstrating a personal Christian faith and witness in all interpersonal interactions
  • General office environment/equipment
  • Must regularly lift and move 15 lbs., and on occasion 25 lbs.
