The Worldwide Leader in Sports seeks to make the X Games a global, year round fan experience. XGames.com is looking for a Senior level Software Engineer to join the team that will create, develop, and deploy new global products and applications. The right candidate will have a demonstrable track record of successfully building and supporting high quality, innovative applications, products, and services for a consumer-oriented company. The right candidate must have hands-on technical expertise and be a self-motivated, team player that can drive his/her own work while keeping an eye to the overall business objectives of the organization.

This is a role where you will be responsible for completing a variety of highly visible projects, solving complex and difficult problems, architecting solutions, and implementing the solutions within a specified time and budget. To be successful in this role, you will need to be able to come up to speed quickly and develop a broad and deep understanding of our technology platforms, services, and tools.

Responsibilities
Design, develop, test, and document web and mobile web software components Provide training, guidance, mentoring, and leadership to technical personnel on web technologies. The ideal candidate will have contributed to or developed several web applications or other software in Java utilizing common Java technologies (J2EE, JAXB, servlets, JSP,etc.). They should also have a sound understanding of HTTP and how clients interact with REST-style web services Identify areas that require improvement and recommend/implement solutions. Creating and maintaining accurate and current documentation and upholding to coding standards Recommend and drive technical decisions for applications and systems

Basic Qualifications
Minimum of 6 years of professional software engineering experience using Java Technically proficient in one of the following: o J2EE & Java o Web application servlets (typically running under Tomcat) o Experience writing object-oriented server side code in conjunction with a Content Management System or database o Guest-facing applications experience o JDBC or other high-level persistence frameworks; Microsoft SQL Server a plus o Groovy & Grails experience a plus Excellent understanding of multi-tier web architectures, and OO design patterns and concepts. Superior technical, analytical and problem solving skills demonstrated by an ability to resolve a wide range of issues Must be a self-starter that can drive projects forward with minimal management oversight A strong sense of ownership, passion, and a commitment to the user experience Passion for technology and change in the online environment A passion for action sports!
