The Youth Counselor provides direct and indirect care for adolescents in the residential program.
Is a member of a therapeutic treatment team responsible to provide a 24 hour safe, nurturing and structured environment.
Assists in carrying out individual treatment plans and clinical programs.
Implements and abides by Customer Service Standards.
Supports and implements patient safety and other safety practices as appropriate.
High School Graduate or equivalent with 2 years post secondary training in related field including courses in psychology, sociology, and/or addictions preferred.
Orientation and training will be provided to obtain desired level of competence in lieu of chemical dependency experience.
Experience with computers and typing skills preferred.
Any persons who have direct client contact must have been free of chemical use problems for at least the one year immediately preceding their hiring and must sign a statement attesting to that fact.
Chemical use problems includes the following:
Receiving treatment for chemical use within the period specified for the position in the staff qualification requirements;
Chemical use that has a negative impact on the staff member’s job performance;
Chemical use that affects the credibility of the treatment services with clients, referral sources or other members of the community; and
Symptoms of intoxication or withdrawal on the job.
Current American Heart Association (AHA) BLS Healthcare Provider card required prior to completion of unit orientation.
