The YMCA of Western North Carolina is looking to fill a full-time, exempt-level childcare position with an experienced, energetic, positive child care leader. The Youth Development Director will join a talented team of professionals and assist with the daily operations of 21 afterschool program sites within the Childcare Services Center and directly supervise site directors for Afterschool and Day Camp programming.
The Youth Development Director is responsible for all supervision and evaluation of all site staff and carries out supervisory responsibilities in accordance with the organization's policies and applicable laws. The incumbent will motivate/recruit employees and volunteers and develop/implement staff retention plans while conducting performance appraisals and utilizing/enforcing a system of progressive discipline. The Youth Development Director will follow the goals and policies of the YMCA of WNC Child Care Services Center, including employing staff within the operational needs and budget, providing for the overall training and development of a highly competent and motivated site staff team, managing the child care and camp budgets, developing and maintaining effective and committed relationships with school administrators and personnel, and evaluating program and staff on a consistent, on-going basis.
Qualified applicants must have a BS degree in an Education, Child Development, or Human Services field and a minimum of four years of direct experience and/or training in the school-age child care field. A minimum of two years' experience in a YMCA, childcare, or similar organization, and demonstrated knowledge of childcare principles are required. The Youth Development Director must show superior communication and problem-solving skills, mediation techniques, and the ability to be a team player. The incumbent must have or acquire certifications in all related safety certifications (CPR, First Aid, etc.) and obtain all applicable licenses required by the NC state division of licensure for child care. Experience leading and managing multi-site programs would be considered beneficial. Child Care Services is a fast-paced environment with the responsibility of ensuring the health and well-being of over 800 children in our programs daily. The ideal candidate will not only be serious about providing safety but also be equally passionate about providing quality programming in a happy and fun environment.
Salary: $29,900 - $33,600
