Full-time position available for Cannon House in Seattle. Under the supervision of the program manager, the youth guidance specialist will provide comprehensive case management for youth 12 to 17 who are court involved, experienced violence in the community, history of school suspensions, or at-risk of gang involvement.
Must show good judgment in working with and evaluating youth, and be able to identify client needs in order to help them achieve their goals. Will provide outreach to schools, community-based agencies, law enforcement agencies, and ethnic communities to engage at-risk youth. Will follow-up with students, families, school counselors, community advocates, and probation officers to insure program completion.
The youth guidance specialist will provide comprehensive case management for youth, identify barriers to school success, and develop strategies to overcome barriers. The youth guidance specialist will maintain participant files and submit required reports on a timely basis.
Two years of full-time experience assisting youth or other similar human services experience is required.
One year of experience working with multi-ethnic, disadvantaged, marginalized, or at-risk youth is highly preferred.
Must be skilled in computer technology.
Must have strong interpersonal communication skills. Must have a positive attitude and proven ability to work as part of a team.
College degree in a social-science field preferred; additional years of work experience will substitute for education.
Must be fully fluent in spoken and written English. Bilingual or multilingual preferred.
Must have a valid Washington drivers license, insurance and unlimited access to an automobile.
