Turning Point Youth Center is a secure therapeutic program designed to assist youth who have been adjudicated as delinquent and possess a mental illness. Our utilization of multifaceted and inclusive therapeutic components affords our residents the opportunity to manage their mental illness and to learn appropriate behaviors. Our treatment professionals are committed to providing quality treatment and rehabilitation to our residents in an effort to allow them to become productive members of society.

Turning Point Youth Center has three per diem Youth Service Worker positions available. The candidate selected for this position will be responsible for the following:
  • Provides supervision of residents off the unit during transports, to court hearings, emergency medial care, etc.
  • Monitoring of programmatic activities and ensuring that the program operates as it is designed.
  • Documentation as assigned will be clear and professional.
  • Maintains a safe therapeutic environment through vigilant monitoring of the physical plant for dangerous situations and contraband.
  • Provides a positive role model for the residents.
  • Consistently exercise good judgment and exhibit emotional stability when responding in stressful or non-stressful situations.
  • Conduct various types of group sessions and must be a willing and enthusiastic participant.
  • Keeps current on required in-services, certifications, and health screens.
  • Must be able to assist in the restraint of residents, when necessary, for the safety of the residents and/or others.
  • Must be willing and able to assist in protecting residents from harming themselves or others in emergency situations.
  • Ability to interact with supervisors, co-workers and public in a professional manner.
  • Must have the ability to remain calm and courteous and exercise self control when sharing information and when interacting with angry individuals.
  • Must be able to accept criticism without over-reacting or getting angry.
  • Must maintain good relations with the public and outside agencies.
  • Must make every effort to follow problem solving and grievance procedures according to steps outlined in the employee handbook.
  • Assists in the daily operation of the unit and displays knowledge of program policies and procedures.
  • Provides supervision of residents off the unit, including school, MD exams, visitation, etc.


Minimum of a high school diploma or equivalency.
o If doing a transport of a resident, a chauffeur’s license is required.
o Successful completion of facility Handle With Care training.
o Must have good recommendations and a satisfactory work record from pervious employer, as well as a successful reference and criminal check.
