Work Schedule: 45+ hours per week Positions Supervised: Bakery employees

Uses problem-solving skills, tact, and discretion to oversee and direct the Bakery and its staff. Schedules, staffs, trains, coaches, counsels, and reviews Bakery personnel during daily warehouse activities, continually developing the employees.
Oversees and directs operations of the Bakery Department.
Creates and implements sales and merchandising plan for Bakery and determines production requirements.
Works in communication with various levels of management to resolve issues. Implements and upholds proper Bakery and general safety and sanitation procedures and standards. Provides prompt and courteous customer service.


Develops, coaches, counsels, and directs specific department personnel. Monitors employee performance. Provides proactive feedback to promote teamwork and accountability among employees. Participates in the employment process by making recommendations for hiring, promotion, and termination. Responds to employee concerns using problem solving skills, tact, and discretion in accordance with the Costco Employee Agreement and other applicable regulations. Participates in department employee evaluations. Approves timecards and other reports. Implements and upholds proper Bakery and general safety and sanitation procedures and standards.

Reviews Bakery profit and loss statement. Develops and implements sales and merchandising plan for department. Determines production requirements. Checks quality and consistency of finished product. Oversees product presentation and merchandising.

Coordinates proper maintenance and repairs for machinery, equipment, and Bakery instruments.

Approves and submits physical inventory periodically. Approves and submits orders to buying office for equipment, product, and supplies.

Follows Standard Sanitation Operating Procedure (SSOP) guidelines as it refers to proper cleaning and sanitation of all equipment required by this position.
Completes and complies with 11 Commandments of Quality Assurance, Food Safety certification, and all safety training required by warehouse and Bakery Department.

Participates in baking products. Assists in other areas of the Bakery and departments of the warehouse as necessary. Provides prompt and courteous customer service to drivers, members, employees, and suppliers.

Bakery, employee relations, customer service, management or comparable experience

Licenses and Certifications:

Level 2 Food Safety Certification and Food Handler’s Permit as required by local government and the NRFSP exam, Supervisors Orientation, Hazardous Materials Training – Module 1, and HIPAA Training (all within 30 days); Hazard Analysis Critical Control Point certification (within three months); Leadership Development 101 (within one year); Costco Pay Policies (within 90 days of hire date)

Education - High School Diploma or GED
Computer Skills - Microsoft office (Outlook, Excel, Word) and AS400
Other Skills and Abilities - Basic math skills
