The San Diego/Hawaii Chapter of The Leukemia & Lymphoma Society (LLS) seeks an energetic, goal oriented individual to join the School & Youth Team.
The mission of LLS is: Cure leukemia, lymphoma, Hodgkin's disease and myeloma, and improve the quality of life of patients and their families. LLS is the world's largest voluntary health agency dedicated to blood cancer. LLS funds lifesaving blood cancer research around the world and provides free information and support services.
One way LLS is able to spread awareness about the mission is through The School & Youth Programs: Pennies for Patients & Pasta for Pennies, sponsored by Olive Garden. These programs allow students a fun and exciting opportunity to work together as a team to collect spare change to fund lifesaving research and be rewarded for their efforts.
Position Classification: Non-exempt, Full-Time, M-F
Basic Function: Provides fundraising assistance by contacting and scheduling school representative volunteers in order to develop and maintain relationships. In addition, assists with the administrative needs of the Campaign.
Work Direction: Works under the direct supervision and training of the School & Youth Senior Campaign Manager.
Duties and Responsibilities:
Administers the on-going School & Youth (SY) Programs (e.g. school recruitment, volunteer prospect identification and cultivation, incentive distribution, program press releases, program logistics coordination, program communication pieces, etc.)
Utilize school lists to identify prospective school liaisons to recruit on average 5 schools a week to participate in program.
In charge of in-office volunteer recruitment and management. Including, assistance with correspondence to volunteers in Hawaii.
Provides administrative, secretarial and clerical support for SY program which will include preparing all school visit materials, additional event materials and school program materials, data entry and accounting support.
Maintains assigned office, program and school records, files and data bases.
Prepares school related correspondence and reports.
Maintains a working knowledge of The Leukemia & Lymphoma Society mission and its programs to address them.
Ability to travel within chapter territory of San Diego.
Performs other related duties as assigned.
1-2 years professional work experience.
Experience in sales and/or fundraising.
Excellent word processing and database management skills.
Good communication and organizational skills.
Proficient in business English, spelling, punctuation and grammar.
Proficient in basic accounting and bookkeeping skills.
Detail-oriented, thorough and highly organized.
Knowledge of standard business machines and computers.
Professional maturity and judgment.
Ability to lift up to 20 lbs.
Bachelor Degree Required.
Knowledge of the Hawaiian Islands is a plus.
Bi-lingual in Spanish is a plus.
