Placer County Water Agency encompasses the entire, 1,500-square-mile boundary of Placer County, ranging from the rim of the Sacramento Valley on the west to the Sierra Nevada and Lake Tahoe on the east. PCWA is headquartered in Auburn and provides water resource planning and management, retail and wholesale supply of irrigation water and drinking water and the production of hydroelectric energy.
The Placer County Water Agency is recruiting for a Chief Information Officer. The individual appointed to this key leadership position will organize and manage the activities of the Information Systems Services Division, providing technological support for a variety of business and operational processes within the Agency. The CIO will also be instrumental in implementing best practices within IT program areas and assisting in the alignment of the Agency’s technology solutions with its business strategy. The CIO will participate in the development of and assist the Agency’s Information Technology Stewardship Committee in the implementation of the Agency’s strategic information systems plan.
The Information Systems Services Division (ISSD) is responsible for the Business Network, Telecommunications, and Supervisory Control and Data Acquisition (SCADA) and manages the information systems, both hardware and software, throughout the Agency. These three networks and the assorted software applications form the backbone that supports the entire Agency and is integral to daily operations.

The compensation for the Chief Information Officer will be based upon the successful candidate’s qualifications. The current compensation is:
Salary Range – $79,991 - $102,088 annually; negotiable DOQ. Medical, Dental and Vision Plans – A variety of medical plans are offered to employee and dependents through the CalPERS Health Care Program. Dental and vision care are provided for employee and dependents, with the employee premium full paid by the Agency. Long term disability is offered to employee with premiums paid by the Agency. Life Insurance – Group term life and accidental death and dismemberment (AD&D) insurance (two times annual salary) is available to employee at no cost. Employee may purchase additional life and AD&D insurance at a nominal cost. CalPERS Retirement – New Members: 2.0% @ 62. Classic Members: 2.7% @ 55, single highest year; Agency pays employee’s share. The Agency also participates in Social Security. Deferred Compensation – Two deferred compensation programs are available from which to choose. Vacation Leave – Starting at 15 days and increasing up to 25 days annually, depending on years of service. Administrative Leave – Seventy-two hours per year. Holidays – Ten fixed holidays per year, plus three floating holidays per calendar year. Paid Sick Leave – Twelve days per year, accruable from year to year, with unlimited accumulation.
