SUMMARY
Performs administrative tasks essential to loss mitigation within the Collection Department.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES include the following. Other duties may be assigned.

Reviews bankrupt accounts and repossession accounts on a weekly basis for recommendation of further action or follow-up.

Assigns accounts out for repossession.

Enter new bankruptcy notices in log.

Maintains accurate bankrupt log.

Maintain accurate charge-off and recovery logs.

Prepares and follows-up on repossession letters.

Reviews Kelly Blue Book numbers as needed to recommend or evaluate settlement offers.

Reviews and follows -up with repossession agencies for results and costs incurred.

Reviews repossession agency results and recommends continuation or rejection of further assignments.

Under the direction of the Manager or Supervisor:
Files proof of claim for Bankruptcy cases within the required filing time.
Contacts all assigned attorneys of bankrupt accounts as necessary, follows-up on bankrupt accounts. Prepares reaffirmation agreements. Confers with member’s attorneys as required to develop necessary information.

May order real estate inspections and / or assign field visits using appropriate systems.

May prepare and recommend extensions.

Resolves "Notice of storage" and "Lien Sale" Notices.

Researches and adjusts members' accounts as needed.

Skip traces accounts utilizing skip tools such as Masterfiles, Accurint and FDI.

Researches and corrects credit bureaus and others via eOscar System.

Submits repossession requests to management.

Faxes various items to agency's, members, credit bureaus and others.

Updates members’ loan records in DNA system

Applies payments on delinquent accounts as requested by Collectors.

Posts payments received from BK Trustees.

Reverses late charges as requested by Collectors ($50 or less).

Researches and resolves complaints and inquiries.

Recommends closing of Line of Credit or Visa accounts.

Completes payments over the phone via FAX A Check System

Communicates with third party collection agencies in an attempt to collect on charged off accounts.

Prepares ECM or Fax A Check batch requests and forwards to branch for processing payments.

Files CUNA Life and Disability claims as required.

Completes Mexico Letters as required.

Is responsible for compliance with all required regulations and polices, especially with all Bank Secrecy Act (BSA) and Office of Foreign Assets Control (OFAC) policies, procedures and regulations.

Maintains a positive work atmosphere by acting and communicating in a manner so that the employee gets along with members, vendors, co-workers, and management.

SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES

This job has no supervisory responsibilities.

EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE
High school diploma or general education degree (GED) and three to five years related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of higher education or / and experience. Working knowledge of bankruptcy, repossession and fair credit reporting laws.

LANGUAGE SKILLS
Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals. Ability to write effective routine reports and correspondence.

MATHEMATICAL SKILLS
Ability to calculate figures and amounts such as discounts, interest, commissions, proportions, and percentages.

REASONING ABILITY
Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out instructions furnished in written, oral, or diagram form. Ability to deal with problems involving several concrete variables in standardized situations.

OTHER SKILLS
Must have personal computer skills including familiarity with Microsoft Office: Word, Excel, and Outlook.
